Ramat Hen up, Galil Elyon down in women's basketball Premier League standings

Ramat Hen's basketball team has taken sole possession of second place in the women's Premier League with a 76-63 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva, while Galil Elyon has slid down the ranks after falling to winless Hapoel Rishon Letzion 77-66. Khadijah Rushdan led host Ramat Hen with 22 points, while Karima Christmas added 21. In the other league game, Ramat Hasharon defeated visiting Elitzur Netanya 96-84. Philadelphia Phillies seal $12 million, two-year deal with reliever Mike Adams

The Phillies and reliever Mike Adams have finalized a $12 million, two-year contract. The 34-year-old right-hander is expected to fill the eighth-inning role for the Phillies. He was 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA last season for the Texas Rangers. Adams' deal, which was completed yesterday, includes a club option for 2015 that would become guaranteed at $6 million if he has 65 games pitched in 2014. Overall, Adams is 18-15 with a 2.28 ERA in 358 appearances - all in relief - in eight seasons. (AP )
