Ramat Gan bowlers are setting the pace in both the Men's Wingate Fives and in the Women's National Fives and have their proverbial noses ahead in the closing stages in both competitions.

In the mens' tournament, Ramat Gan is just one overall log point ahead of Ra'anana's "White" team while Haifa, Savyon and Ra'anana "Green" team are four points behind the log leader, and each is still in with an outside chance for the overall win, with the full round of finals yet to be played.

Ramat Gan has 18 points, Ra'anana "White" has 17, Haifa, Savyon, and Ra'anana "Green" side each has 14, Kiryat Ono and Netanya 8 points each, and Jerusalem has 3.

In the women's tournament, two more rounds remain to be played with Ramat Gan heading the log with 21 points, followed by Haifa with 18, Ra'anana 17, Kirtat Ono 16, Netanya 12 and Ramat Hasharon and Savyon 11 each.

In the men's competition at Netanya last weekend, the section winners were determined and in the final round will play each other for the top position and trophy, in each of the disciplines. The singles will be contested between Savyon's Amir Yaron, and Kiryat Ono's Meir Eitan.

Yaron came through by outplaying a somewhat off-form Boaz Marcus 21-11, while Eitan, playing excellent bowls, came through 21-18 against previously unbeaten Zvika Hadar, after peels at 18-all.
