Israel's Jeff Rabkin sets off this week to participate in the inaugural World Champion of Champions singles event in Australia.

Rabkin won medals at the last three World Bowls Championships.

Twenty-nine countries are being represented in the tournament, which takes place September 20-26 at the Moama club, the same site where the 2000 women's world championships were staged.

Competitors have to be the country's current national singles title holder as of March 31.

There are two round robin sections for both men and women, with the top four in each section advancing to the quarterfinals.

The TV bowls scoring format has been adopted for the tournament with matches of two nine-end sets, and a best of three ends tie breaker should the sets be shared.
