Maccabi Rishon Letzion escaped yesterday with an important home win against Hapoel Jerusalem in basketball's Super League.

Rishon dominated the first three quarters, outscoring Hapoel in each period to take a commanding 69-52 lead. Jerusalem then dominated the final quarter to pull within three points at 83-80. Dion Dowell and Jason Rich fueled the comeback, finishing with 17 points each. Hapoel's

Moshe Mizrahi appeared to tie the game at the buzzer when he knocked in a three-pointer off the inbounds ball from the left side, but the referees ruled his back foot was out-of-bounds, declaring Rishon the victor.

Oded Katash, Hapoel's head coach, did not challenge the call after the game but said he could not see it clearly. "But that's the past," he added. Rishon's Aaron McGhee led all scorers with 21 points.
