Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan has decided not to prevent the team's Israeli international midfielder, Eyal Berkovic, from leaving the club, and is willing to let the 31-year-old player join newly promoted Portsmouth for the bargain price of 1 million pounds.

The Scottish newspaper, The Daily Record, reported yesterday that "Keegan is fed up with the Israeli international's complaints and needs cash for new players." According to the paper, this is the reason that City has refused to extend Berkovic's contract, which is due to end in 2005.

The paper also reported that there is a large gap between the wages Berkovic is demanding from Portsmouth.
