Israelis still going strong, though
Shahar Peer and Victoria Azarenka reached the quarterfinals in the women's doubles at the Australian Open with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Australia's Alicia Molik and Sania Mirza of= India yesterday. The Israeli-Belarusian duo were scheduled to face Slovakia's Janette Husarova and Flavia Pennetta of Italy today.
Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich, who have advanced to the quarterfinals in the men's doubles, will also compete in the mixed doubles quarterfinals. Ram and Nathalie Dechy of France defeated Husarova and Poland's Mariusz Fyrstenberg 6-3, 5-7, 10-4, while Erlich and Chia-Jung Chuang of Taiwan advanced without playing.
