Grant's Russia trip sparks speculation
Avram Grant, former coach of Israel's national soccer team and England's Chelsea, visited Moscow this weekend to watch a Russian Premier League duel between CSKA and Lokomotiv Moscow in which CSKA prevailed 4-1. Grant told the newspaper Sport Express that he intends to "return from vacation" in the near future, insisting "I'm on a private visit here."
The manager did nothing to rule out taking over a Russian club - or even the national team, if current national squad manager Guus Hiddink stays on at Grant's former home at Stamford Bridge. "Is it possible that I'll take a job in Russia? My answer is: Nothing can be ruled out," he said.
Grant added, however, "I'm going to resume managing soon and the English Premier League is my priority. But that doesn't mean I won't consider other options."
The Russian newspaper said coaching positions at both Spartak Moscow and Lokomotiv would likely be opening up soon, and both clubs would be looking for a "European coach."
