Fencing / Iran keeps up Israel boycott, forfeits again
Iran's delegates to the Fencing World Championships in Antalya, Turkey continue to refuse to compete against Israelis.
Yesterday, Iranian Ali Fadja failed to report for his men's epee preliminary match after drawing Israel's Slava Zingerman. The previous day, Tomer Or advanced to the third round when his scheduled opponent, Mohammed Hussein Ibrahimi, also failed to show up.
While the Iranians suffered the consequences of their recalcitrance, Israel's competitors moved along nicely.
Doron Levit won each of his six matches (including one with Mohammed Mirza of Qatar) and advanced along with Ido Herpe to the third round.
In the women's bracket, Delila Hatuel advanced to the third round of foil competition.
