Galit Chait and Sergei Sakhnovski missed out on a medal at the European Figure Skating Championship on Friday, finishing fifth in the pairs.

But there was good news for the Israeli delegation as the brother and sister pair of Roman and Alexandra Zaretski finished 15th and made the cut for the Winter Olympics next month.

Chait and Sakhnovski scored an outstanding 97.09 in the free dance, but finished with 188.91 in the overall standings.

Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov of Russia seized their third successive gold medal with 202.3 points, edging past Ukrainian husband-and-wife team Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov, who finished with 196.73 points. Lithuania's Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas picked up the bronze on their comeback after almost four years out of competitive skating with 196.18 points.

The Zaretskis finished 15th with 138.87 points.
