Basketball / TA evens series with Hasharon
By Arie LivnatHapoel Tel Aviv's women's basketball team last night handed Anda Ramat Hasharon its first loss of the season, an 83-76 home win to even their playoff series at 1 all.
Following an opening 72-69 loss at Ramat Hasharon earlier this week, Hapoel turned things around. Down 19-14 after eight minutes of play, coach Roi Eisenberg brought a third defensive player forward, which proved to be the turning point in the game. "The move caused us to be more exposed in the paint, but it paid off, since when Ramat Hasharon plays with a smaller squad, it doesn't enjoy an advantage over us," Eisenberg said.
Dominique Canty led Hapoel with 25 points, followed by Ayana Walker with 19 points and 13 rebounds and Rada Vidovic with 18 points.
Deanna Nolan led Ramat Hasharon with 20 points, followed by Cheryl Ford with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
In the second playoff series, Maccabi Ramat Chen easily defeated Haifa/Motzkin 89-76, to take a 2-0 lead. Ramat Chen was led by Deanna Jackson, who scored 22.
