Basketball / Israel's young guns set to face Brazilians in Haarlem
The Israeli national basketball team is today slated to play its first game at the Netherlands' Haarlem tournament against Minas Tennis Club from Brazil.
The national team, whose members consist mostly of younger players lacking in big-game and international experience, will later face Estonia's Valga Welg as well as MyGuide Amsterdam, coached by Israel's Arik Shibak.
Israel's coach Zvi Sherf discussed the challenges facing the national team in the tournament, and complimented his Brazilian rivals ahead of the game.
"The game is against a very good team," Coach Zvi Sherf told Haaretz. "The result is of less consequence - what's important is that the young players gain experience in an international tournament. Our guys are determined and motivated."
