Barcelona to host peace match
By ReutersMADRID - Spanish champion Barcelona is to play a friendly against a joint Israeli-Palestinian side later this month in an effort to promote peace in the Middle East.
The match against the Peace Team will take place at Barca's Nou Camp stadium on November 29, the day after a two-day Euro-Mediterranean summit being held in Barcelona.
The leaders of all 25 European Union member states and 10 of its Mediterranean neighbors are meeting in the city to discuss closer cooperation in the region.
According to a statement on Barcelona's Web site, the aim of the game is to promote friendship, understanding and respect between the Israeli and Palestinian communities through sport.
Money raised from the game will be invested in projects that help children from Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
