I try to read and watch reports from all around the world. To find out how things are in Israel, I read your reports. If your government refuses to let its citizens find out what is happening in Gaza, then it is undermining itself and your country. If journalists never question the government's line, then they are not journalists. Thank you for your reports. They are true journalism.

If what I read in Mr. Ravid's item, it seems the source of this most recent conflict was an attempt by Hamas to cause the efforts of Fatah in Rammalah to upgrade their status at the UN to fail, by showing a divided leadership that hardly is worthy of a "nation". Does Mr. Levy also know that in the first incursion the common wisdom was that Fatah was waiting for the IDF to crush Hamas so they might have full control over the Palestinian national movement. When was the last time you heard one faction of a movement call upon "foreigners", albeit neighbors and sworn enemies, to use thier force of arms to attack their political opponents? Yes, it was aggression, but the motive was an internal political struggle, not any external attactk--not even "the occupation"! The current state of affairs has the stamp of Macchievelli stamped all over it, and I fear Israel again was forced, of necessity, to fall into the trap.

if gaza has a border with egypt and gazans cannot get out then why no condemnation of egypt ? objectively israel has every right to decide who/what enters its territory. egypt can supply whatever legal goods it wanst through its border crossing. as for the sea and air blockade, makes complete sense to stop iranian missile deliveries.

Your humility can only be appreciated and respected, but you are not a little journalist Gideon. You and Amira are strong and brave voices of truth caught inside an environement where truth is the enemy. I feel the bitterness with which your words come down not only in this article but in every piece you've written and i've read. You've once said that you're writing for the archives, and i have to acknowledge that this is partially true, but please do not let thie horrible fact disappoint you and make you "betray" the tiny minority that is still committing the sin of reading your columns, never let the truth fade away. The little journalists are those who accept to be spokespersons for power and enjoy being "in bed" with generals, government officials and CEO's.

Those of us half way around the world in Australia see the carnage created by the IDF with it's smart bombs and missiles Vs the Palestinians with sticks, stones and bottle rockets - The reports of Israelis going to hospital with "panic attacks" against the bodies of dead children in Gaza. No one has forgotten "Cast Lead" when the IDF bombed a doctors home and killed his children while he saved lives in a hospital. While you may hide the truth from your own people the rest of the world sees what you are. Bloodthirsty savages with smart weapons. Like teasing a dog on a chain one day it will bite you, don't expect any sympathy from the world, we have seen enough

i care about the people who suffer in gaza . Israel sees gaza as a colony .no one can leave gaza without the consent of israel . how would Israelis like to ask for permission to live from another state . sure i have to read international media to know what is happening in gaza . israeli newspeople are just a voice of the government with some exeptions from haaretz .. how can israelis accept that their neighbor has no state . israelis will never sleep well as long as Palestinians don't have a state . I just hope that pt obama will be tough enough to impose PEACE on both parties No peace no money should be the rule .
