UN envoy Prosor: Israel has no chance of stopping recognition of Palestinian state
Sources in the Prime Minister's Office say Netanyahu is considering sitting out this year's General Assembly, sending Peres to face likely diplomatic barrage in his stead.
By Barak Ravid Tags: Palestinian state Benjamin Netanyahu Shimon PeresIsrael's ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, sent a classified cable to the Foreign Ministry last week, stating that Israel stands no chance of rallying a substantial number of states to oppose a resolution at the UN General Assembly recognizing a Palestinian state in September.
Sources in the Prime Minister's Office, meanwhile, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering not participating in this year's General Assembly. Instead President Shimon Peres is likely to represent Israel.

Under the headline "Report from the frontline at the UN," Prosor - considered one of the most experienced and senior Israeli diplomats - offered a very pessimistic estimate as to Israel's ability to significantly affect the results of the vote. Even though he did not state so explicitly, Prosor implies that Israel will sustain a diplomatic defeat.
"The maximum that we can hope to gain [at the UN vote] is for a group of states who will abstain or be absent during the vote," Prosor wrote, adding that his comments are based on more than 60 meetings he held during the past few weeks with his counterparts at the UN. "Only a few countries will vote against the Palestinian initiative," he wrote.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to contact the UN secretary general on September 20 and ask for recognition of Palestine as a full member state of the UN. At the Foreign Ministry, the assessment is that in order to avoid an American veto, the Palestinians will seek a vote at the General Assembly and not at the Security Council, even though the former is less binding. The vote at the General Assembly will probably take place in October.
Foreign Ministry sources estimate that 130-140 states will vote in favor of the Palestinians. A major question mark remains over the position of the 27 member states of the European Union.
The EU's head of foreign policy, Catherine Ashton, will meet with Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in Jerusalem today, ahead of a meeting of the EU's foreign ministers on September 3.
A senior source at the Foreign Ministry, which is busy trying to foil the Palestinian move at the UN, said that so far only five western countries have promised Israel they would vote against recognition of a Palestinian state - the U.S., Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
"Most western countries will not be willing to be in the hall and vote against a Palestinian state," the senior Foreign Ministry source said.
However, the stance of the four European countries may change in line with the wording of the resolution that the Palestinians will propose. If the text is moderate and includes the possibility of returning to the negotiating table immediately following the vote at the UN, these four states may alter their opposition and abstain.
At the Foreign Ministry they believe the EU's 27 member states will be split between a large group that will support the Palestinians and two smaller groups that will abstain and oppose the resolution.
The Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad al-Maliki, said over the weekend that the Palestinian Authority is close to gaining the support of 130 states which will recognize a Palestinian state. This follows the recent recognition of a Palestinian state by Honduras and El Salvador.
China also announced it will support the Palestinian resolution at the UN.
The Palestinians estimate that Guatemala and several Caribbean island-states will also announce their recognition of a Palestinian state in coming weeks. Israel is continuing its international campaign to avert support for the resolution and a number of ministers are being dispatched to Africa and Asia.
Nonetheless, it appears that Benjamin Netanyahu has given up on the effort with his decision to avoid the UN General Assembly next month. "At this time the PM does not believe that his trip to the UN will contribute to a change in the vote on the resolution for Palestinian state recognition," one of Netanyahu's advisers said.
President Peres is probably going to take Netanyahu's place. Lieberman, who will also travel to the UN, recommended to the PM that Peres address the General Assembly, so that the Israeli position which will be heard at the UN will be as conciliatory and moderate as possible.
Most senior Israeli officials believe that Israel should treat the UN vote as it did the Goldstone Report - as something unavoidable which must be condemned. A smaller group of officials, which includes foreign ministry officials, Shin Bet and IDF planning officers, believe Israel should try to influence the language of the resolution, aiming at a resumption of negotiations after the vote.

hiding in his knesset hole ... well done with the voting Israel ... what a sad story, by now it should be clear that bibi manouvered his 'natural nation state of teh jewish people' into a corner with 10m high walls and did everything he could to show the world he's not interested in peace ...
Your Forgetting Canada too..Canada Is unlikely to Vote for it. This is a mess,a real sign of the world gone mad and bad.the World is getting unsafe by the hour. What does the prophet Zechariah say in his 12th Chapter, that All Nations will come against Jerusalem, well, well,Believe it or not, that is what is being set up right now!
It is written!
that is not all nations, so you can take your tinfoil hat off
is not a denial of the right of Israel to exist
I know it sounds crazy, but the Palestinians are going to win the vote unanimously anyway. Israel should do something different. Vote YES. They would be r Looked upon with a higher regard, it would shock the world, and then they would be listened to when they explain a fight for area not to be part of the 67 borders. It would be a mature decision that would make most Israelis proud and most Palestinians to think differently towards israel and their policy makers.
When Palestinians become a state, they will be held responsible for attacks on Israel coming from their borders. The current stateless situation is very convenient for the Palestinians, because their leadership can blame various "factions" and avoid responsibility. State means law and order and authority over your borders - something that the Palestinians might not be ready for.
Any injury to Palestinian state there after will be taken as serious violation of another country's right. Bad time for Israel.
...or before they know it, there will be a thousand more minority groups queuing up at their doorstep, demanding a state!
..the fun part is deciding the borders, the large "settlements" (read: towns) and the status of Jerusalem. declaring Palestinian statehood solves absolutely nothing.
U.N.: Vote for TIBET and Kurdistan statehood in the same vote and see how far the Pals get!
.... India will also be supporting the Palestinian bid in the UN
.... India will also be supporting the Palestinian bid in the UN
God does not recognize the United Nations, a satanic organization hell bent on the destruction of Israel, God's inheritance. Israel will be like a melting pot among the sheaves. All of Israel's enemies will be destroyed. This will happen very soon.
The Israelis may be the worst enemies of Israel.
Isn't fundamentalism a scary phenomenon?
then what the hell are you lot doing there in the first place since it's courtesy of the U.N. that you ended up squatting on Palestinian land
they're really at square one in negotiating that state despite this practically unanimous diplomatic global support, and that is to prove that they indeed do seek coexistence with the Jewish State of Israel. The U.N. will not renege on the existence or security of the modern Jewish State since its inception in 1948. Outside the PA, the violent terror by the factions and no consensus with the Quartet's 3 conditions will not permit a final peace agreement on the core issues. This U.N. exercise is a positive gesture but the real disturbing aspect of the ME conflict is that the minority extremists who defy President Abbas are ruining any progress. It's a greater concern than the settlements issue in the West Bank because the consensus from Israel is the recognition of two states side by side, but not from the Palestinian side. This is the dilemma to resolve along with the Palestinian state's recognition.
How can one come to such a obviously false statement? Just look at the Likud charter or the statements of several government ministers regarding 'Judea and Samaria'
The world seems to be sending a message to Bibi. Bibi's failed policies are coming to haunt him.
Hurricane passing up the Eastern seaboard of continental North america in Hurricane season is hardly a shocker
They can spin like propellers. We control the Land!
"A successful application for membership in the United Nations requires approval from the Security Council AND a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly."
Haarets gets it wrong a lot. Assuming the worse and the artical is correct, the Pals will still have to negotiate borders with Israel. If the Pals should go to war or start a terrorist campaign against Israel the outcome is a forgone conclusion the Pals will lose.
On May 22, 1948 the Israeli Government confirmed it’s frontiers as “within frontiers approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations in its Resolution of November 29, 1947,” in correspondence to the UNSC http://unispal.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/0/B4085A930E0529C98025649D00410973 ... Israel has never legally annexed any territory. Legal annexation is the ONLY way of legal way changing borders
It has also annexed all the territory conquered during the 1948 war ( Jaffa, West Jerusalem, Ashkelon, etc.. ) There is no border between Israel and whatever future Palestinian state. They will have to be determined in negotiations. The UN can't set borders. :)
When Jordan went to war in 1967 and lost that war the boundaries changed forever. That war in 1967 was imposed upon Israel and Jordan who was never attacked by Israel shelled Israel for several days before Israel's army turned east. In any case Israel was never expected to go back to 1948 borders. I don't doubt in any settlement the borders will be relatively close to 67 borders, but there will be necesssary adjustments,
....yes, but that was before the combined Arab armies launched several wars to destroy the new Jewish state. War changes things. Ask any European country.
So no, wars do not change the borders anymore, as pretty much every UN resolution on the matter has confirmed.
It has not gone unnoticed that Netanyahu has been absent from public light over the past week. Funny how he was all fired up for the Senate speech....and delivered maximum bull there....yet when he has an opportunity to address the World he chickens out. It shows as a leader he is spineless.....he can dish it out but when faced with Israels truth...much of which he has been involved with in one form or another....he hides like a cowering rat. End the occupation and illegal settlements...Support a Palestinian State and get the peace you claim to want. Put the money you waste on illegal activities back into the Israel economy to serve the needs of sovereign Israel proper. The game is over.
everyone will feel, that perez is abused... on top of all... this is so pathetic ! cant you please send this bibi and lieberman away now, please ? what else do they have to do to you ?
he has all the sympathies of the world, and certainly doesnt share the views of this extremist government... bibi should be a man and go himself... he is so pathetic, such an unbelievable coward, its beyond all and everything...
He will be looked upon as a coward, if he sends Peres.
He will be looked upon as a coward, if he sends Peres.
If China wants to vote against Israel it is an act. Another act is not shopping at Wall-Mart. David USA
That's what i told you before, Israel is only to argue with Torah and Koran to defend itself. Because the land is ruled by a Egypt Baylonian Greece cooperation, so it is not able for the King of Judah, to represent his own colours at the UN. i know it will be bitter for hebrews of Israel, as well as for the palastinian moslems and the vatican, esspecially for Baal Dc. . But sometimes you must be wise. What is the lower problem ? That the moslems will seperate Jerusalem, or that the kingdom of Judah will rule Israel. The lack of faith is too big. I only live trough my trust in David. You , Israel, you are blind, but should the one who gave you the eyes , see. You are barren, but should not the one who gave you the ears, hear. A housemade problem, cause you are not fearing and serving YHWH, you sold you're soul and heart to the tin god Baal, who will kill you're children. Fighting against David ben Yischai is suicide !!!!
You grow it all for your own use. Selfish.
The ones that come up before Israel will find God in their face. There has been nothing but lies put to the world and the world ate them up. God fearing people knew this day would come for it was foretold. The One that will come as a thief in the night will be Israel's defense. David TN, USA
Perez has been used by the right wing to tone down the world condemnation of the action sof extremists like Sharon, Bibi, and Liebi. When will Perez realize that he is being used. He is now more used up than a cleaning cloth in a Rio bar in Mardi graue.
Did you read it before posting this? Show me where borders between Israel and the Palestinians are enshrined in international law!
Are you sure the arabs were the ones to ever attack? or was all the time the Jews attacking the arabs by creating a country in arab land? or proving wars that they knew they would win, just to gain more territory, hmm I am so curious to know...
In 1948, Jordan conquered the West Bank. In doing so, Jordan also expelled all those Jewish residents who were not massacred. No UN resolution can void the rights of the legal title-holder of land. The Etzion Bloc of settlements is entirely legal, as is the reclamation of Jewish-owned land and/or buildings in and around Jerusalem. Some 20,000 Israeli and/or Palestinian Arabs have been granted reparations, alternative equivalent land or confirmation of their ownership by Israeli courts, without the intervention of the UN. A far smaller number of Jewish landowners (less than 1,000) have had their legal title upheld by the same courts, with conditions. The Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood is an example: Arab residents placed in buildings by the Jordanians have been allowed to remain on condition of paying a highly subsidized, fixed rent. Those Arabs who have been evicted from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah are those who refused to pay that court-ordered rent for more than a decade. (Sheikh Jarrah, BTW, was renamed in 1949 by the Jordanians. Before that, it was a Jewish neighborhood named "Shimon Hatzaddik".) "Settlements" such as the Etzion Bloc and those same Jerusalem neighborhoods under legal Jewish ownership deserve the same recognition and rights as any land-owning Palestinian. The difference is simple: although holding up a key to a newspaper reporter may make a heart-rending human interest story on the 7 o'clock news, it does not meet the rules of evidence practiced in a court of law. The fact is that I can go the the Flea Market in Jaffa and buy 100 such keys in a couple of hours--does that give me title to the houses they belonged to? In a court of law, it will most certainly NOT. Note that I make no such claim for any settlement that can not trace its legal claim prior to 1948.
Send Lieberman to UN lol
He crushed Obama, but who hasn't? He stopped the peace process dead in it's tracks. He launched a series of sweeping and triumphant waves of Settlement Expansion. Netanyahu Triumphant. The world watched and notice. First Netanyahu destroyed the fiction that the USA wanted to work out a Two-State Deal. Then he proved that he - and Israel - had only one goal. To prevent peace until every inch of Judea and Samaria was populated by Jews. What a triumph. Netanyahu destroyed forever the idea that israel would ever allow a Palestinian state. Just as he destroyed forever the idea that the USA would coax Israel to allow a two state solution. The world has only one thing left to do if it wishes to have peace in the middle east. The USA can prevent the Security Council from accepting Palestine as a UN member. China will prevent the USA from passing any action in the Security Council rejecting an action of the General Assembly. The General Assembly will vote Palestine a nation as it once voted for partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab sectors. The USA cannot stop that. . . Netanyahu has thrice screwed Israel in pursuit of his own career and the Likud Platform.
By co-linking the UN resolution to include Taiwan as a state.
could call in the US debt.
the US is scared like a mouse towards china ... and chine is settling scores over south korea ... the US created the possibility to have a state without the SC approval ...
Which leaves the USA and....... a brace of European countries whose vote is just as likely to jump outta the bag and be counted as being "in the bag". I would suggest that Proser is being optimistic; that vote might well be much, much worse than he is suggesting.
Canada should be included on the " No " vote, not becasue Canadianas do not support the Palerstinians, but because the current Canadian Prime Minister is sucking up to the Candian Jewish vote. PM Harper was only elected because the twp main opposition parties split the vote in the last general election. The majority of Canadians voted against him and his right wing religious party.,
Now that Harper has a majority and no election fo r 4 years he may vote yes! His votes are strategic just like Obama. In 4 years it may be negative for him. I say Canada abstains
The right wingers of Israel and the USA panicked enough to show their true colors and people do not like the face of racism or supremacy especially from a tribe that uses those very same words on a constant basis as a reasoning for needing their own state.
Bibi has spent his time as PM making Israel toxic, now he wants Peres to soak it up? Let bibi and libi stew in their own juices. The sooner bibi is gone, the sooner Israel can rejoin the int community with a sincere and honest real push for peace. Not for a peace process, but a genuine attempt at conflict resolution, working through the issues, showing empathy, making compromises and treating the other side like humans that deserve to live free. It is coming, voluntarily or enforced. The whole world is watching. Viva Palestine, viva Israel
The 130 not so “valued” countries voting for Abu Mazen’s PA Were they thinking with their brains or their derrieres? Netanyahu is right to ignore the travesty, Sending instead the President honestly….? Now for the comment so apropos will I paraphrase With great delight present to you all with much grace. Abu Mazen is: A. Abu Mazen is a washed up grocery clerk B. Abu Mazen is an intellectual fraud •wrote his Marxist Doctoral Thesis about how the HaShoah never happened or some filth like that. C. Abu Mazen has really bad taste in ties, shirts and suits,—I have never seen his shoes, but can only imagine but really don't want to. D. Abu Mazen is not going to be at his desk too much longer. E. Abu Mazen has never been to a really good Kosher delicatessen and will have a decent shot at in New York in September. F Abu Mazen is a really nasty killer and needs to be chained to a tree stump and administered the tried and true Arab execution aka "death by a thousand cuts". And that's just for starters.Just like he is trying to do to Israel. I am sure I can think of more, but really what's the point? I don't like him and he doesn't know me, and I prefer to keep it that way so we are still less than even. Here Abu Mazen , is a small little chair for you to sit on. Compliments of Danny A and moi.
It seems to me that the Palestinians deserve some consideration in this matter. They have been bombed by Israel many times, they have been quarantined within their boundaries, they have a very poor standard of living, and Israel has boarded vessels bringing aid to Palestinians (and killed many passengers). It seems Palestinians deserve some consideration. What is wrong with giving them their own country?
Colonialism went out of fashion with the dark ages, only the Americans and Israelis cling on to the delusion that the theft of other peoples land is acceptable. These two supposed democracies are the only obstacle to Palestinian independent statehood. One fueled by greed for more Palestinian land for its illegal settlements, and the other driven by its desire for Jewish votes in a vain attempt to retain governmental power - if there ever was a God, then he would condemn that for the hypocrisy of the Axis of Evil
The Palestinians could have already had a state for 10 years. Arafat walked away. Abbas refuses to negotiate. So, they have no state and they have no control over most of the West Bank or the Jordan river crossings. They don't have a unified government. That is the reality of the matter. Quite simply, they don't meet the basic requirements for a state and they will continue to not to meet those requirements until they sign a peace treaty with Israel.
The US and Israel have both given back land won in defensive wars. England had to be thrown out in in Lexington, Saratoga and Valley Forge and still holds part of Ireland, Scotland, a sliver of Spain and islands of the American coast.
when they come back to claim their territory.
when they come back to claim their territory.
Hope, that at least some in Israel will recognize that their unrestricted conquest of lands that are not theirs are met wit world wide condemnation via UN vote. Still I hardly believe it would change anything in Israeli approach to peace with Palestinians. All we will hear is that we need another 50 years to "negotiate" peace with Palestinians, unless you will be able to expel the last one from their land before that time.
How bout Babylon, Rome, and all of the other times G-d sent Israel's enemies to punish it? It is no secret that Israel is now a majority secular, so how do you now claim his blessings and protection? That which G-d gives, he takes away, when his people are disobedient and/or immoral.
The Pals will have the votes, but nothing on the ground.
if Obama did anything but make another meaningless speech. He'll veto the resolution because AIPAC has him by the balls.
If you don't like the outcome...condemn it. They've snubbed their noses so often at the UN and the rest of the world, it's to be expected.
The vote is symbolic, and it is diplomatic but it will have no actual pragmatic effect on the ground. The rest is wishful thinking.
I'm sure Israel will get a fair trial before they are hung. Israel would be right to ignore the UN
starting a war, meant to spread all over the Middle east, we know how bibi wanted to avert the UN vote... do you think, your government does all this - and much more - because its all "symbolic" ? they are such losers... they can only exist, because losers as you support them, and try to make sense out of their b.s... call the things what they are, would be a start...
And it will set wheels into motion towards the same thing in the UNSC - and the US won't be able to stop it...at least not while maintaining any semblence of its moral integrity and international respect. UN Res. 377 - look it up...
A week ago after the Arab League meeting the Palestinian leadership announced they will seek a vote in both the General Assembly and the Security Council, but his article states that Israel’s foreign ministry experts expect Palestine will go only to the General Assembly to avoid an American veto. What's up?
I vote NDP, so don't blame me. By the way, in Canada we have a saying: Canada is a great country despite its government.
I cannot see the fine country of Canada welcoming as equals to sit at the table of nations, a group of dysfunctional cutthroats who routinely settle scores by murder, who attack civilians as a standard tactic, and whose sole aim is to destroy a neighboring UN State. As a matter of fact, I cannot comprehend why any UN state whose values, traditions, and aspirations are a cut above the terrorists who run the PA and Hamas, would lower their own standards in this way.
Nothing Canada can do about that at this point....
Nor will it be able to honestly maintain a veto against it! International pressure will brought to bear - it's just a matter of time! And Israel will help to expedite with its continued activities in the West Bank and Bibi's refusal to honestly negotiate borders. Guaranteed!
The US may be able to veto the UNSC recommendation that Palestine be recognized. China will be able to veto ANY attempt by the USA to reject a General Assembly recognition of Palestine. Netanyahu and Lieberman are the men who won statehood for the Palestinians.
SC approval is required. "A successful application for membership in the United Nations requires approval from the Security Council and a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly."
in the non binding GA. I fail to see how it creates the statehood. (and in WB or Gaza?) By the way, Peres is much better qualifier to attend the paper shuffling, hand raising, diplomatic show. Any even semi-realistic look (not to mention fully realistic) in and around the entire ME tells what every nation voting for Pal state at this time is purposely missing. That makes it currently a Pal bias farce.
Look it up sometime...
Especially when you consider that an abstention amounts to a yes void from a country that fears an american backlash. But I think it's cute that old Bibi - coward that he is - is sending Peres in his place...and funnier still that the little FM man has recommended that Peres address the assembly, because he knows dam well that all HE would do is make matters worse!
I thought Canada said it would vote against a Palestinian state?
Forgot the famous event when Stephen Harper failed to get into the photo with the leaders of the G8 and nobody noticed? That was in London 4 years ago. He went to pee or something and was late for the photo. Nobody noticed and the photo was snapped without him. He was supposed to be standing to the left of Merkel, and she did not notice he was not there.
It seems that Canada Prime Monster is making sure that Canada will never matter in the world anymore. Canadians should question themselves if he is Working for Canadians or Israelis
Haha, I love it! We Canadians have asked that question, especially those in the West and got our answer when the Conservatives thanked the Jewish communities for giving them the mandate to govern. So yeah, we know. That's why we're known as the uppah uass.
Are these yahoos trying to kid themselves, or are they really impervious to whats going on around them?
to grave with him.
It is good that Lieberman with be at the U.N.. I would love to see him address the General Assembly and tell the other 193 country how they should conduct their foreign relations, how they should vote, how they should manage their own affairs, etc etc. Lieberman would hilarious: imagine Ahmadinijad gives his usual "I-hate-Zionists-the-holocaust-is-a-lie speech; then followed by Lieberman. It would be the battle of the century. Anyway, it is good that Lieberman will be there he is, of course, the Palestinians best weapon in securing membership.
What is this, hiding behind Perez's skirt?
What a weak and pathetic leader. Can you imagine the signal this moron is sending to the rest of the intl community by hiding behind a man who is notorious for lulling a priest to sleep....
Bibi would have to get his wife to give him his testicles back so he would not have to hide behind Perez's skirt.
Consider the US, who has a president who falls over himself to kiss Netanyahu's posterior.
Can an occupying power "go to war" against the people that they occupy? The answer, clearly, is "no".
Sending Shimon Peres is a Good Idea but also Israel and USA should Abstain explaining why we want 2 State Solution with Peace. Prepare for October.
Sending Shimon Peres is a Good Idea but also Israel and USA should Abstain explaining why we want 2 State Solution with Peace. Prepare for October.
Why not support the motion, if you want a 2 state solution with peace as you say? Weird.
What is the problem. All or most of Israelis want a Palestinian State. We just dont want it at the expense of the Israeli State. DUH
Interesting that China, a great consumer of Israeli military hardware, will favor the resolution.
The question of Who Needs Whom in this relationship is pretty clear-cut: If that commence was suspended then it would mean a lot to the Israeli manufacturers of military hardware, but it would mean very little as far as the Chinese military is concerned - they can, and would, be able to buy that stuff elsewhere.
Agree to an expanded Security Council resolution which recognizes Palestine in the 1967 borders, recognizes Israel as a Jewish state with the right to live and exist free of terror attacks, and stipulates resumption of negotiations. Throw in language which guarantees the full political and religious rights of Israel’s non-Jewish citizens. It is not as if this idea is not floating around. It is being spearheaded by an influential group lead by Rabbi Michael Lerner. Within a week of the passage of this resolution Israel will be busy appointing ambassadors to 56 Muslim states. Want to bet?
Pals repeated it several times already - No Jewish state. So... no 23d Arab state either.
Israel wants them to recognize a Jewish state before it recognizes them, and also without guarantees to the religious minorities in Israel.
what you jerk trying to tell us we know that you leftist stop being public relation of PA in ISRAEL
or else those abstaining may be compelled to vote for Palestine. Israeli arrogance should not be shown in the UN.The international community has now decided to end the Palestinian sufferings.
Let there be a state.
Let there be a state.
How the same Palestinians are en-route to their State while Israel's Prime Minister hides behind the skirts of Peres?
Should be considered when the UN should vote to impose economic sanctions on Israel. Everyone knows the Israeli government has no intention whatsoever of ever allowing any Palestinian state and to pretend otherwise is nothing but pure fantasy.
And the occupation is not alleged, and it is not to be placed in quotes. Thank you very much for your attention.
Tee hee!!!
Go ahead Palestine... Palestinians have the same Israelis' right to have a country to live in PEACE. Let the UN General Assembly bring the PEACE that the US hasn't been able do to the Middle East for the past 40 years.
It is bad for business.
2020 is too far in the future. Palestinian children deserve a country NOW. A 10-year old child in Palestine will be 20 in 2020.
to accomodate the Basques, the Roma, the Amazigh, the Druze, etc. who certainly are much more identifiable as nations than the "Palestinians"
The Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are a S.T.A.T.E.L.E.S.S. people. They are therefore perfectly entitled to declare a state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, precisely because that is territory belonging to no state. The same is not true of the Basque region of Spain, the Roma who wander around Europe, or the Druze of Israel and Syria. None Of Them Are Stateless.
He just openly talked about the Palestinian desire to eliminate the only Jewish state in the world....we should use his own words to push harder than ever at the UN, especially in South and Central America...
He didn't say he wants to eliminate the state.. just the Jewish state. Not about people.
And how are you going to push harder at the UN when Prosor himself has announced defeat and Netanyahu is planning on a no show?
There is only one Jewish state in the world (as opposed to dozens of Christian, Catholic, Muslem, etc. states), and we need it to protect ourselves against the endless attrocities that were and will continue to be performed against us throughout the centuries. If you were Jewish, Mary, you would understand.
Jews have the right to live in their own country without Arab colonies to preserve their Jewish identity and heritage.Jews need a country, not a Swiss cheese shaped bordello full of Arab holes, but no worries there won't be peace after they get their own state. The next step is ROR.I can already hear their shouts No peace until you take back all refugees :)Regards.
its impossible for the PA to get approval, the USA will not vote for it, ha, ha, ha! never mind those arab states, they're noting without the western votes, ok?
to see the way you fools squirm and sweat over something as stupid as a UN recognition, you survive and prosper purely off of the arab leaderships incompetence.
no wonder why they avoid international appearance
Israel is a terror entity, but will never be a state
Israel is a terror entity, but will never be a state
But they would like to negotiate little details. Like the borders.
But they would like to negotiate little details. Like the borders.
