The faceless masses are taking note
"It's the biggest graft scandal in Israeli history," said the police last week, as their requests to extend the remand of suspects arrested in the Holyland affair piled up.
Evidently the eager beavers in Israel's police force really do believe this is a corruption scandal the likes of which has never been seen here before - they're on a mission from God.
But that isn't necessarily so. If anything, the information that has surfaced regarding the monster building project in Jerusalem makes it seem like a cliche: Developers used mediators to bribe top city officials to get permits for building variances.
If the most senior city official, who is suspected of receiving bribes in the affair, hadn't become the prime minister, the scandal probably wouldn't have won its dubious distinction.
