Six people killed in five weekend road accidents
Six people were killed over the weekend in road accidents across Israel.
Last night a man around age 60 died when his car flipped on Route 669 near Kibbutz Alfa.
Yesterday afternoon a motorcyclist died near Beit Shemesh when he crashed into a barrier, apparently after losing control of his cycle.
Early yesterday morning Yulia Sergiev, 25, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Haifa. Sergiev, her sister and two friends were apparently walking in the public transport lane when a car hit her from behind. The driver fled, but turned himself in last night. He told police he knew his car had hit something but did not realize until he read news online later that he had hit a person. The man, 27, will be arraigned today.
Tarek Abu Kara, 17, died Friday when the car he was riding in flipped on Highway 60, near Be'er Sheva. The driver, 17, was seriously injured.
Also Friday, Sa'ar Asfar and Yossi Ben Naim, both 17 from Atlit, were killed when the car they were riding in overturned. The driver, also 17, a third passenger and the driver of a car they hit were injured.
