Six Chinese workers stage sky-high protest over unpaid wages
Six Chinese construction workers refused to come down from a crane yesterday to protest an alleged delay in their salaries.
They left their 70-meter high perch near Be'er Yaakov after the police and a team of negotiators arrived and Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry inspectors agreed to examine the workers' claim.
A translator facilitated the discussions.
The workers' employee called police to the scene.
The workers "claim the contractor who employs them hasn't paid their salaries for more than three months, let alone bonuses that were promised to them," said police superintendent Shlomi Peretz. "The contractor claimed he paid them what he was supposed to."
After ministry inspectors spoke to the laborers, they agreed to return to work.
Their claim is currently being investigated by the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry.
