Shin Bet's Hamas spy hires bodyguards after Haaretz story
I love my father, but his movement is arrogant and evil, says Hamas leader's son who spied for Israel.
By Avi Issacharoff Tags: Shin Bet Hamas Israel newsMosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a Hamas founder in the West Bank who recently revealed that he spent over a decade as a top agent for the Shin Bet security service, has hired bodyguards to protect him following the revelation of his story in Haaretz.
"This past week has been very difficult for me," said Yousef, who as an Israeli agent code-named "the Green Prince" was responsible for thwarting dozens of suicide bombings and attacks on senior Israeli officials, and whose work led to the arrests of dozens of terrorists.
On Tuesday, his book about his experiences, "Son of Hamas," hit bookstores in the United States. Since then, he has been pursued by every major television network seeking an interview.
"Unfortunately, my father, the sheikh [Hassan Yousef], was forced to say that he is renouncing me as his son," Yousef told Haaretz during a telephone conversation from New York, where he is making the rounds of television talk shows.
Mosab Yousef moves from place to place with a security detail of armed bodyguards. But when asked about his security arrangements, he refused to answer.
"I feel safe," he said. "My father's announcement that he is disowning me came because Hamas forced him to do it. But this will cause me to fight even more stubbornly against their god and against his movement. I love my father, but his movement is arrogant and evil."
"They want me to lose my father forever, and my response will be to fight his god until he is finished," he added. "I am fighting the god of hate, the god of Islam, by means of my god - that of Christianity, which is the god of love."

Mosab is a breath of fresh air. I empathize with the suffering of the Palestinians, but why can't the entire civilized world stand up and say, "suicide bombing is detestable and unjustifiable in any situation, there are other ways to attain your objectives"? If the Palestinians had accepted Barak's peace plan and simply held out their hand to the world for financial aid, billions would have poured in for the development of economic infrastructure. But as Mosab writes in his book, Arafat had no interest in any real peace, which would have a) required him to actually govern, and b) put him out of a job. Continue to speak the truth, Mosab. Praise God for your courage and conviction.
Does any Jews read the liberal Haaretz paper anymore? Perhaps too many self-hating articles. Anyway, I laugh at these islamic commentators who say Mossab is insane. You people brutalize your women, have massacred millions of people for your jihad, you kill your daughters if you think they are having an affair and you have raging temper tantrums like 5 year old kids. You call this man insane? You muslims grow around butchering people who don't agree with you, you celebrate when your children become suicide bombers? WHo is insane?? Your blood-thirsty pagan moon god and cult called Islam is insane. Mossab was very calm, direct and in control of the conversations. The only people that were nervous during his interviews, where interviewers , because this guy was slamming them with hard and cold truths and he was doing it quite well. Mossab, you're a hero!! Keep it up! Don't let these backwards lunatics stop you from preaching the truth!
you make no sense at all. you don't seem deluded. just not very bright.
Mousab was not in an Israeli jail. He was in a Hamas jail and saw how cruelly they treated the prisoners there. He got traumatized by what he saw and experienced there. As he got free, he decided to convert to Christianity and he contacted Shin Bet in order to save lives, to do good. You can read this in yesterday*s Haaretz article on Mousab.
You have stated a very good and important point
This guy became a Shin Bet informant when he was in Israeli jail. I wonder how badly he was tortured before he was broken and turned into his current sorry state. I feel sorry for him, his father and most of all, his mother. May God give them all patience and perseverance. This boy doesn't need book sales - he needs treatment and rehabilitation.
they re the same. what a lunatic thought say such things. he's a good guy but needs treatment. he has deeper scars...
I've seen an interview with him. The experience of brutal torture of their own by hamas for any suspicion that they might have and commiting murder as easy as going into the movie had opened his eyes. Islam is an evil religion and it is no wonder that uneducated, criminal elements incarcerated in jails, prisons and penetentiaries so much attracted to it..
I do not know if this is the specific CNN interview that people are saying he is a nut case...but to me English is not his 1st language but he came across as a guy who made a decision to help his people by trying to show hamas as a group not true to the needs of the Palestinian people.
Thanks Syrian opinion (#10). Maybe you yourself can identify with the situation "Green Prince" finds himself in. It is not a situation I would want to be in, and "jealousy" is not the first word which would describe my response to this story. I meant what I wrote in my post, which I think was pretty clear.
Nuance and balance are clearly not your thing. You just can't see past your simplistic "goodies and baddies" view of the world, can you?
The Haaretz story certainly will boost sales of his book, but now he is concerned about the reviews. . . Hard to blame Haaretz. In fact I smell a big whiff of 'pumping the sales' in this announcement. I hope he has a best seller. "They want me to lose my father forever, and my response will be to fight his god until he is finished," he added. "I am fighting the god of hate, the god of Islam, by means of my god - that of Christianity, which is the god of love." - Mosab Hassan Yousef "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." - Jesus, quoted by Saint Luke, Luke 14:26
He's on a holy war against God. What a nut case.
Hey Mossab. I have news for you; we worship the same God minus his fake son (Jesus). Moslems, Jews and Christians do worship the same God. So for you to say you are going to fight the Muslim God is very bazaar and very weird statement. You strike me as someone who is mentally not well. Also for the record, I would like to tell you about your new religion of love (Christianity). Christians are the ones who killed more than 100 millions people in the last century alone. They killed 40 million in WWI and 65 million in WWII and committed two holocausts against people of other faiths (Jews in Germany and Moslems in Bosnia) also we know what they did to the 30 million Red Indians in America. Please do not lecture us about your Christian faith. Also since when God has a son? Since when God can not save his son? Do not tell that Jesus died for me. Jesus last words were "God...God ... why have you forsaken me?” For me as a devout Muslim, I condemned all form of violence from any source.
Those who underestimate the value of special ones through their "intellectual" ways of trying to explain their behaviour maybe themselves suffering from psychological disorders such as jealosy. Thats not what you meant??!! Then you should put it differently.
I saw him interviewed on CNN and he came across as a broken and confused man. He didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. He looked shifty and his answers indicated he was very frightened and unsure of why he was there. He is no hero or consciousness objector. He says he is a Christian now but he doesn't understand Christianity. He claims he is against killing but he justifies Israeli killing of Palestinians. In brief the guy is a mess
We've bee through all this in Northern Ireland. Once a person turns informer, that's the end of any normal life for them. It's not like those brave people who oppose terrorism openly. Informers betray family and even childhood friends and break all emotional ties with their own community. They then become entirely emotionally reliant on their handlers. But at the end of the day, when the informers aren't useful to their handlers any more, they're dumped with a new identity, but no life, somewhere thousands of miles from home. Maybe this guy has published the book because he now needs the money, but probably more likely he's published it because he needs validation. Now that he's isolated from both his community and Shin Bet, he needs somebody else to say 'you're a great guy'. He needs that so badly, it's worth risking his life for. Sad.
Jewish lives,be they in Israel or abroad, are there to be taken by the good angels of Hamas/Fatah/IslamJihad etc etc. As I've repeatedly said, antisemitism is a mental disorder, not a political movement...
"Cannnot imagine what Yousef went through. Must say he is one shining proof that miracles can happen, even in the Gaza strip" #1 Barry Well, some people might call it a miracle, others would put it down to him being psychological 'broken'. To me he comes across as the victim of some type of trauma. He makes little sense in his interviews. No doubt he has a very sad story to tell.
ummmm..... Wan't the point of monotheism that there are no "gods of this or that" just THE god ??? Not that it matters all that much to me, as there is no way anyone can know for sure, so what is the point of arguing about it?
... he is "ready for death", but what he actually said on CNN is that there are things "worse than death"... which is probably closer to the core of his actions...
Only scrambled brains attribute evil to a god. Both good and evil are the exclusive property of man.
Israel should sponsor his safety as well as a humanlike life and future. He should as well be honoured as a rightous within the nation, cause he did not act for money but on behalf of his ideals.
Mosab is absolutely a lunatic I feel sorry for him.
This guy is a complete nut. I saw him on tv being interviewed. He was all over the place. It looks like Shin Bet did a nasty job on him. His mind and his logic seem very twisted.
Mussolini, Hitler, Lyndon Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Blair, Cheney, Howard, Rudd...etc. All 'Christian' men of war! All hypocrites!
I was unhappy with Haaretz for endangering the man. BUT. He has written a book and has been to all of the media all over the world promoting it. Haaretz is claiming a bogus scoop.
Cannnot imagine what Yousef went through. Must say he is one shining proof that miracles can happen, even in the Gaza strip. Hamas must be reeling with so much incriminating truths being dished out so openly. Even the BBC, Guardian, & CNN won't be able to defend the terrorists this time.
