Shari Arison, Mideast's wealthiest woman, to divorce husband
Bank Hapoalim owner Shari Arison announced she will divorce her husband of six years, Ofer Glazer.
Bank Hapoalim owner Shari Arison announced Wednesday she will divorce her husband of six years, Ofer Glazer. The announcement comes amid a dispute between Hapoalim and the Bank of Israel, which is demanding the dismissal of Hapoalim chairman Danny Dankner.
Arison, listed by Forbes as the wealthiest woman in the Middle East, and the only woman among the region's 20 wealthiest people, met Glazer in 2003. He is her third husband. They married that year, but a few months later Glazer was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He was convicted and sentenced to six months in prison, which he served in 2007.
The Bank of Israel is currently investigating a loan of NIS 30 million taken out by Glazer to buy land from the Israel Lands Administration. His spokesman said the loan went through all appropriate procedures and was given under commercial conditions.
The Bank of Israel declined to comment on the matter.
