The chief negotiator for Gilad Shalit met recently with senior Hamas figures incarcerated at the Hadarim Prison, the East Jerusalem daily Al-Quds reported on Sunday.

Ofer Dekel briefed the Hamas leaders on the indirect Egyptian-mediated talks over the kidnapped Israel Defense Forces soldier, the paper reported.

Palestinian sources told Haaretz that Dekel's meeting took place 11 days ago. The sources said Dekel met with Nasser Issa, Revhi Mustaha and Abbas Sayid, whose names also appear on the list of prisoners Hamas is demanding be released in exchange for Shalit.

The Hamas men blamed Israel for the delays and failure of the talks, and said Hamas' demands had not changed, Al-Quds reported. The address for talks about Shalit was the organization's leadership in Cairo and Damascus, they added.

Dekel has met with Hamas leaders in Hadarim Prison about Shalit on other occasions, too.

Israeli sources confirmed that Dekel occasionally meets with Palestinian prisoners.
