Members of former MK Azmi Bishara's Balad party criticized the search of his Knesset offices conducted Monday night. Balad chair Jamal Zahalka called the step "unacceptable and provocative" and said "the building carries parliamentary immunity."

Zahalka claimed the room was illegally sealed when Bishara was still a member of the Knesset. According to Zahalka, "the police framed Bishara ... They will not find anything other than parliamentary materials and writing material."

With Bishara's resignation Sunday, the Justice Ministry asked Knesset speaker Dalia Itzik to seal his offices and prohibit entry to facilitate the search. Zahalka was surprised to be summoned to the Knesset late Monday night, along with his party's legal counsel and Bishara's parliamentary aides, to be present when the room was searched. Police confiscated documents and two computers.
