PM sets up Iran task force
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has put together a panel of high-level officials to consider alternatives for action against the Iranian nuclear threat. The team has been meeting a few times a week ahead of Netanyahu's trip to Washington.
Team members include Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor, National Security Advisor Uzi Arad and Mossad chief Meir Dagan.
Netanyahu, who believes dealing with the Iranian threat is the most important issue on Israel's security agenda, wants to make it a focus of his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama. The process of forging a policy on Iran is being carried out separately yet simultaneously with the creation of a new approach toward the Palestinians.
