The Tzomet Sfarim bookstore chain has asked the Academy of the Hebrew Language to translate the word "vuvuzela" into Hebrew. The word, referring to the loud South African monotone stadium horn, has swept the world thanks to the soccer World Cup. Tzomet Sfarim also invited visitors to its Facebook page for suggestions for a term for the horn and received 70 responses in 24 hours, including shofarit and estadionella. The chain said the idea originally was to promote the use of Hebrew expressions, but the extensive response led them to seek the language academy's involvement. (Noya Kohavi )
