News in Brief II

Media figures, MKs and social activists will record a song Monday to raise awareness about the situation facing children of migrant workers in Israel. The song, entitled "My Home, Your Home," was written by Yuval Albashan with music by Guy Meroz, and produced by Ivri Lider, who initiated the project. Among the lawmakers will be ministers Gideon Sa'ar and Avishay Braverman, and MKs Nitzan Horowitz (Meretz), Carmel Shama (Likud), Dov Khenin (Hadash) and Shlomo Molla (Kadima). The journalists will include Moti Kirshenbaum, Haim Yavin, Ayala Hasson and Gideon Levy. They will be joined by the choir of the Bialik Rogozin school, many of whose students are the children of migrant workers. (Noya Kohavi)

The Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski will come to Israel in March as a guest of the Cameri Theater. Warlikowski, who was a guest of the Cameri last April as director of Hanoch Levin's play "Krum", will be here as part of a Polish-Israeli cultural exchange program. He will be joined by two other Polish artists, the dancer Leszek Bzdyl as well as a set designer. The Israeli artists to participate in the program will be selected by a committee made up of the director Micha Levinson, former CEO of the Batsheva Dance Company Naomi Fortis, and set designer Roni Toren. Outstanding students will be sent to Poland to meet with Polish artists. (Zipi Shohat)

On Monday, Channel 2 franchisee Reshet censored a scene from the series "Hakol Dvash" ("Everything's Honey"). The removal of the scene, which depicted sexual activity, was made following widespread criticism of the show for including coarse sexual content. Industry sources say Reshet's deputy director for content, Shira Margalit, is responsible for the censorship and ordered the episode to be changed a few days ago. Since the show began its second season, criticism has been on the rise. Most complaints involve language and sexual content. On Monday Reshet also added a warning limiting the age of viewers. Singer Esther Ofarim will perform at the annual fundraiser for the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel on March 18 at the Jerusalem Theater. Ofarim, who will turn 70 this year, lives in Germany and rarely gives public performances. She will appear in the second part of the program, a chamber concert under the musical direction of Yoni Rechter, who has collaborated with her on projects since the 1970s. The first part of the evening will be a concert by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra conducted by Roni Porat. Ofarim began her career in the 1960s at the Habima Theater and as part of the Ofarim Duo, with her then-husband Abi Ofarim. In November 2008 she appeared in Israel, but stopped mid-performance because of noise made by the audience. (Noya Kohavi)
