Lieberman indictment hearing set for January 17
AG informs Lieberman of his intention to authorize an indictment, pending a hearing on fraud, breach of trust, asset laundering and witness tampering, in April.
By Ophir Bar-ZoharA hearing that could affect the future of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government has been set for January 17-18.
In April Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein informed Lieberman of his intention to authorize an indictment, pending a hearing, on fraud, breach of trust, asset laundering and witness tampering.

Lieberman's attorneys will present their arguments at the hearing, and then the attorney general will decide whether to indict. The date of the hearing was deferred for weeks following attorneys' requests.
Weinstein previously rejected a police recommendation that Lieberman be indicted for graft. After Weinstein clarified his intentions, Lieberman said he had no cause to worry since he always heeds the law.
Weinstein's April announcement came after more than a decade of police investigations into Lieberman's activities. Political sources say that if an indictment is issued against Lieberman, causing him to step down as foreign minister, he would still serve as an MK and head of the Yisrael Beiteinu party.
