Convicted terrorist Samir Kuntar announced his engagement this week in a highly-publicized Beirut ceremony.

Kuntar was jailed in Israel for his role in a 1979 cross-border terror attack that killed three members of the Haran family and a policeman. He was freed last year in exchange for the bodies of abducted soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. Kuntar will be marrying Zeineb Barjawi, the daughter of a prominent Lebanese family. A range of Lebanese dignitaries attended their engagement ceremony at her Beirut home, including former Lebanese president Emile Lahoud and the father of assassinated Hezbollah deputy Imad Mughniyeh.

Lahoud reportedly called the event "dear to my heart. I view Samir Kuntar as one of my sons and I wish the couple a happy life." Other guests are said to have included the head of Al-Jazeera television's Lebanese bureau, Ghassan Bin Jiddu.
