Jordan's Abdullah: Israel trying to rid Jerusalem of Arabs
Comment comes as Israel opens Temple Mount after a day of fierce clashes with rioting Palestinians.
By Jack Khoury, Liel Kyzer, Fadi Eyadat and Haaretz Service Tags: Hamas East Jerusalem Israel news JordanThe international community should not stand by and watch as Israel attempts to rid Jerusalem of its Arab residents, Jordanian King Abdullah II said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Jerusalem is a red line and the world should not be silent about Israel's attempts to get rid of Jerusalem's Arabs residents, Muslims or Christians," the Dubai daily Khaleej Times quoted the king as saying to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in Amman.
Abdullah's comments came a day after the heaviest clashes in months broke out across the city during the orchestrated "day of rage" announced by Hamas, as the militant organization urged Muslims to reach the Temple Mount compound in order to protect it from an Israeli attempt to take it over.
On Tuesday, hundreds of Palestinians in east Jerusalem set tires and garbage bins ablaze and hurled rocks at Israeli riot police, who responded with rubber bullets and tear gas.
The Jordanian monarch reportedly demanded the international community take a firm, swift, direct and effective action to "stop Israel's provocative measures in Jerusalem, that seek to change its identity and threaten holy sites there," he said.
Some 3,000 officers were put on high alert on Wednesday after Hamas called for anti-Israel protests. "We call on the Palestinian people to regard Tuesday as a day of rage against the occupation's [Israel's] procedures in Jerusalem against Al-Aqsa mosque," Hamas said in a statement.
Earlier Wednesday, Israel lifted its closure on the West Bank and granted open access to the Al-Aqsa mosque, with police saying that thousands of troops will remain on high alert but reported no disturbances. Israel originally sealed off the territory last week.
Police had predicted that Palestinian rioters would continue to stage violent protests on Wednesday in East Jerusalem and elsewhere, but the area was quiet during the morning hours.
Unknown assailants on Tuesday opened fire on a police officer patrolling the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in the east of the capital, hitting him in the hand and inflicting a minor injury, as violence seemed to spread to other parts of the country. Assailants in Jaffa hurled rocks at two public buses, and a truck in the Negev was hit by stones.
Fourteen other police officers sustained minor injuries from stones hurled at them by protesters, of whom a few required medical treatment. Approximately 60 people were arrested on suspicion of hurling stones at security forces.
Police chief David Cohen toured Jerusalem's Old City as clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces were ongoing, and said he did not believe the recent violence would spark a third intifada. "We are seeing signs of disorderly conduct," said Cohen, "but that is only a headline. We must be careful about characterizations and remarks being made."
The police chief also stressed that the city has a unique character that must be preserved, and that peace must be maintained in both the Arab and Jewish neighborhoods. Cohen added that the police will beef up its presence in the eastern part of the capital and surrounding villages until Friday and over the weekend, with the intention of returning to routine deployment by Sunday.
Police responded to Tuesday's riots, stone-throwing and burning of tires on roads by firing tear gas and rubber bullets, witnesses said. Some 40 Palestinians were treated at East Jerusalem hospitals for minor injuries, medical officials said. Police also arrested an Israeli rightist who tried to enter the Temple Mount compound and was refused by security forces.
Thousands of Palestinians, meanwhile, staged a protest march in the Gaza Strip to protest Israeli measures in Jerusalem. Ahmed Bahar, a senior figure in Hamas, called for an escalation of armed attacks against Israel and urged Arab states "to shoulder their responsibilities and send their warplanes and armies to rescue the Al-Aqsa mosque and end the Jewish policy of Judaizing Jerusalem."
The head of the police's Jerusalem District, Aharon Franco, said that despite the clashes, police at present intend to stand by their decision to permit right-wing activists Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel to conduct a protest march under the banner "We Demand Equal Enforcement" in the Silwan neighborhood in East Jerusalem. The maximum number of participants is 70, as per the police's restrictions. Franco nonetheless said that the decision to allow the procession "is subject to change."
Tuesday's riots began with two fire bombs that unknown assailants hurled at a house occupied by Jews in Silwan. As riots and stone-throwing occurred elsewhere, police blocked traffic into Jerusalem of Muslim worshipers from other areas of Israel, including the Galilee.
In Wadi Joz in East Jerusalem, a squad of undercover police officers dressed in civilian clothes and kaffiyes, arrested several protesters and dispersed the crowd that gathered there.

Here is why your wrong and your only source is wrong and we can let people decide for themselves. You will notice that many sources are better than JUST the ONE you overuse, and only because she agrees with you. But as we see many others don't agree and argue persuasively the opposition opinion. More truth about the Palestinians: http://www.imninalu.net/myths-pals.htm or here: http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=22&x_article=1028 and legal arguments that refute your claims of illegal settlement. In fact Jewish people DID have the right to a country in all of old Palestine. http://www.acpr.org.il/English-NATIV/02-issue/grief-2.htm Now maybe you can repeat "Hasbara" again as a counter argument. Impressive! At least we can see the hypocrisy employed by the anti-Israel writers. You use a word(Hasbara) to stifle debate or criticism of your opinion.
Danny, while you may sound like an intelligent person; your comments confirm how naive and misinformed you are. Historically, the most prosperous times for Jews have been under Islamic rulership. We have always been persecuted throughout the history of the world, but long ago the Muslims at least left us alone to practice our faith. As an American Jew, I stand behind Israel having a country, but not at the expense of the Palestinians who first lived there. Why couldn't Israel be happy with the land given to them by the UN in 1947? It certainly was enough for the populating then, and even now. Israel is being too greedy and ironically acting like Hitler by building a wall around Gaza and suffocating them by cutting off supplies and electricity. I am tired of all the finger pointing. Let's have a two-state solution and get it over with!!
Jordan's King Hussein actually accusing Israel of trying to rid Jerusalem of its Arabs....?
It takes Two to Tango.......
with reference to Jordan's King Hussein stating that Jews were trying to rid Jerusalem of its Arabs, when he himself is petrified of another Palestinian/Arab taking a step into 'Palestine' itself which is in fact in Jordan.....
Every item has substantiating evidence. "www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Arabs_in_Palestine.html" Irrelevant. The UNSC says Israel occupies. The UNSC says the occupier cannot unilaterally annex. It cannot illegally settle, it cannot illegally sell to illegal settlers. It cannot build Israeli civilian infrastructure or dwellings or institute Israeli civil law in "territories occupied". The Palestinians can call 'emselves and their future state whatever they like. "...It basically goes like this that Jewish people were not suppose to get a nation only a homeland within an Arab country. It is completely false! " No my dear chap, they are quite correct. http://wp.me/PDB7k-Q#jews-can-live-anywhere Hasbara is false, nearly every word of it.. http://wp.me/PDB7k-Y Here is why there are illegal settlers in illegally annexed "territories occupied" http://wp.me/pDB7k-pE & why we don't have the right to legally settle in all our historic homeland in Palestine today.
As long as Israel refuses to compromise and let Palestinians live in East Jerusalem peacefully while Israelis leave in West Jerusalem peacefully, there will be neither peace, nor security in the region. Israeli settlers have hijacked the peace process and made any hope for the future impossible because of their obsession in building on Palestinian land out of Israel's borders. This follishness must come to an end.
Sir, Your comments are really stupid.Jordan can break diplomatic relationship at any time no problem. In regards about brotherhood etc,.I am not too sure the Kingdom of Jordan wants to have military conflict with Israel. It will be great if you start a war with Israel, because after loosing the kingdom to Israel,Palestiian can have part of Jordan as their country, and we will take part of Jordan and will annex with Israel.Problem solved Please do it now.
Just because your favorite anti-Israel blog says so, doesn't make it true. In fact the "homeland" that you are discussing and what it meant is old news. In the context of the times "homeland" was a euphemism for "country" or "nation" everybody at that time understood that to be true. This is an old Arab challenge and a lie to De-legitimize Israel's right to exist. It basically goes like this that Jewish people were not suppose to get a nation only a homeland within an Arab country. It is completely false! This goes to the question of who are the Arabs of Palestine here is a brief history: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Arabs_in_Palestine.html
So Miggy ,are there any building plans or anything else to support your 400 Mosques or Churches in the then Palestine,or are you thumb sucking like Jonnyboy and CJ ,your fellow Palestinians?
What exactly is a non -state entity of Jordan as CJ posts bullsh- day in and day out?
Ttpical Hashemite mentality of this is our feifdom and no we don,t want rabble rousing Palestinians anywhere near us,King Abdullah just like his father?
CJ ,posts are childish ,distorted views of a typical Palestinian not living in his own state and paying his taxes to a corrupt ,inept Palestine govt.?
Thereby reinforcing the perception of a Hashemite occupied Palestine state?
It,s ver nice of you Din to speak out from Amsterdam and criticise the so called Israeli right wing ,but the leftwing is just as incompetent ,willing to sell the Jewish soul for what price?
Jake: "Funny because Arabs are not the ones building settlements after they demolish houses of innocent people without reparation". Er, actually, let's look at that again. The Arabs expelled (without reparations) ALL of the Jews from their homes in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the parts of BMP across the river, etc and for the Jews to get their capital city back and reunited is a bit much for those naiive fools like yourself who swallow the racist "jews are greedy" lies whole, then regurgitate them with glee. Take Jordan of today. Your puppeteer CJ thinks that the staff of the embassy in Jordan constitutes a viable Jewish population in Jordan, and cites that as proof that the Jews are the racist, colonial ones. And this is without mentioning all of the Jewish commmunities throughout the Arab world which were ethnically cleansed without reparations. Small minds, some people.
Sarah needs to get her facts straight as it was Hamas and it,s Islamic cohorts that started the trouble in Jerusalem ,not Bibi Netanyahu or his govt.
Over 400 Palestinian villages were bulldozed off the face of the earth when the state of Israel was created in 1948 after their Palestinian inhabitants were expelled into the West Bank, Gaza etc. So over 400 mosques and churches were destroyed since all those villages would have had at least one.
"The tiny "W. Bank" (which Trans-Jordan named the western province it stole from Palestinian Arabs in 1948 and annexed) ..." thank you for simply stating that Palestine belonged to Palestinian Arabs an not to any jew........
Poor Pierre! You had two houses in Palestine??? I was on Easter in Jerusalem and so with my own eyes that christian arabs could freely pray there, That is how you spread lies around. Shame on you!!!! Do not lie about friendship between christian and muslim arabs. Look at Lebanon, look at Egipt. We know how muslims treat christians.
"The Brits first entertained the idea of partition in 1929." TransJordan & Palestine was the first partition. "Prof Reg Coupland of the Peel Commission said "The national home cannot cease to be `national`" meaning that it would have to take the form of a State - hence the recoomendation for a Jewish State and partition" Source please... The 'recommendation' DIDN'T come about. Read the Mandate. http://wp.me/PDB7k-Q#Mandate Read the White papers. Read THIS http://wp.me/pDB7k-pE
Sarah! I suggest you not to talk of all jews living in America. I am american jew and will vote for Bibi!
"CJ`s Interpretations are subject to facts" Indeed. "The reason why the word STATE wasn`t used..England and France ..wanted to keep the Middle East for themselves." Strange the Mandate was in preparation for an Independent Palestine & Jordan. "Why did France and England draw the boundaries? Because they won the war!" And they were given MANDATES! Read them. As OCCUPIERS. "Israel and Egypt have a peaceful border" Israel HAD TO withdraw from Egypt's Sovereign territory in order to have Peaceful relations. Read the peace treaty carefully. "Syria attacked Israel from the Golan" The Golan was Sovereign Syrian territory. " and lost the war, and the heights" 'It is inadmissible to acquire territory by war' (UNSC) "Syria should learn from Germany..lost territory and had part of its population relocated" By TREATY, divided & under OCCUPATION/s. "Jordan (Palestine)..." Jordan is not Palestine. The peace treaty acknowledged JORDAN'S Sovereign boundary. Read it.

In 1911, before the Balfour Declaration, 'Issa Daoud El-'Issa (ﻋﻴﺴﻰ ﺩﺍﻭﺩ ﺍﻟﻌﻴﺴﻰ?) founded the first national newspaper, Filastin, in 1911 in Jaffa. He addressed the readers as "Palestinians" and warned of the impending danger of Zionism. Of course, the Jewish population was only about 5% in 1900, so despite occasional protests against Zionist aims, the first one being in 1881, it would have been almost impossible to imagine the catastrophic demographic upheaval that would take place after the rise of Nazism and WWII. To all the Palestine deniers, lies and withholding of truth will simply not work.
"They would draw attention to the fact that the terms of the Declaration referred to do not contemplate that Palestine as a whole should be converted into a Jewish National Home, but that such a Home should be founded `in Palestine.` " "it is contemplated that the status of all citizens of Palestine in the eyes of the law shall be Palestinian," Johnboy , you bring up some excellent points and they are a reminder how the Zionist entity in Palestine has over stepped its bounds and needs to be brought into line as King Abbdullah has suggested today in Jerusalem . Yet as you and I know this is only the tip of the iceberg and much more must be done by the Interational community to ensure the sovereign Rights of the Palestinian people now. And while I see an immediate urgency to this I believe it is equally if not more importantly for the Palestinian leadership to have its own strategy in place for declaring a Palestinian state as soon as possible, also.. Dutch P.S. So much for Israel's right to exist when in essence it is the right of Palestine to exist that should be taking centre stage...

The same Jordan that illegally occupied all Jerusalem over Palestinians (which at the time were simply Arabs, which they still are since Palestine doesn't exist). Abdul, we're just following your example, eh? We just miss a dictatorial king.
vh: "he doesnt know the meaning of homeland in the balfour declaration and why they used the word homeland !!" The British were posed that very question back in 1992 i.e. what did you mean by "Jewish national home"? They replied in the 1922 Churchill White Paper. "They would draw attention to the fact that the terms of the Declaration referred to do not contemplate that Palestine as a whole should be converted into a Jewish National Home, but that such a Home should be founded 'in Palestine.' " "it is contemplated that the status of all citizens of Palestine in the eyes of the law shall be Palestinian," "it is essential that it should know that it is in Palestine as of right and not on the sufferance." Got that? The JNH was "in Palestine" so that nobody could say that Jews could not emmigrate to Palestine, but the British insisted that this did not mean that Palestine BELONG TO THE JEWS. In short: it was their safe haven, but it wasn't their state.
As a Christian Arab, I can tell you we live in harmony and mutual respect with the Moslems of Jordan. We are allowed freedom to work , study , worship etc. Jordan is our country, Christians and Moslems. Israeli bullets and bombs never discriminated between us. None or our Partriarchs were ever thrown outside the country , as happened to the Catholic Patriarch Sabbah who was thrown over the borders into Lebanon few years ago. Topsy Yurvi, you don't know what you are talking about.
The Brits first entertained the idea of partition in 1929. A close analysis of dialogues over territorial division and of preliminary partition plans, particularly those drawn up by L. G. Archer Cust and D. G. Harris, leads to the conclusion that Britain's focus on the ideal of representative government, not inter-ethnic violence, played a primary role in the development of partition proposals. Instead, partition was proposed as a solution to the political implications of non-representative government in Palestine, a topic constantly in the spotlight thanks to the League of Nations. http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract;jsessionid=E6C67637F06754DBA2E67DC1C03BB1B9.tomcat1?fromPage=online&aid=4389696 Prof Reg Coupland of the Peel Commission said "The national home cannot cease to be 'national'" meaning that it would have to take the form of a State - hence the recoomendation for a Jewish State and partition.
Jordan turned 17 sinagouges in old jerusalem in rubble and sniped at Jews who attempted to approach the Western Wall - the HOLIEST JEWISH SITE ON EARTH - in violation of UN agreement to allow Jews to worship there. The huzpa of this dude...
You've obviously never actually been to Jerusalem. Palestinians resident in the city are absolutely not prevented from living in West Jerusalem. I even know some who live in "settlements" like Pisgat Ze'ev. See for example http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2006/may/08/20060508-120655-8112r/ And so another cherished anti-Zionist myth bites the dust.
are subject to facts. The reason why the word STATE wasn't used was because England and France determined that they wanted to keep the Middle East for themselves. If they used the word STATE, that would imply a freedom from colonial overlordship. Why did France and England draw the boundaries? Because they won the war! When the Ottoman Empire disintegrated there were no Middle East boundaries. Boundaries are created when the armies stop fighting. Israel and Egypt have a peaceful border. Syria attacked Israel from the Golan and lost the war, and the heights. Syria also lost Mt. Hermon. Syria should learn from Germany, who also was defeated in war and lost territory and had part of its population relocated. Jordan (Palestine) seems to have agreed to the Jordan river as its boundary with Israel, after expelling as many "Palestinians" as it could. All wars since the founding of the UN shouldn't have happened, but they did.
Too bad that is not the case.Sadly its the other way around. They want no Israel and no Jews, but its not gonna happen.Go home and feed the camels.
WE, as Christian Arabs, lived with the Muslims for centuries but they never took our lands or houses. We were neighors with Jews beofre 1948 and they are now occupying our two houses in in West Jerusalem. They also deny us the right to pray in the Holy Speulcher on Easter. Reagrdign theclaim of freeedom of religion in Jerusalem, of course, it's only for Jews.
Jordan ethnically cleansed the part of Jerusalem that they controlled when they took over in 1949. No Jews or Christians were permitted to worship at the "Muslim" holy sites. Now that Israel controls the Temple Mount, Jews, Christians, AND MUSLIMS are allowed to pray there. That is not good enough for the Muslims. The Muslims don't want to be equal to everyone else, they want to have greater rights than anyone else. If they don't get their way they cry to the UN as another poster so eloquently put it. When was the last time that you heard of an Israeli suicide bomber? When was the last time that you heard of a Muslim government allowing any type of protest marches? Which people danced in the streets to celebrate the deaths of thousands of Americans on 9-11-2001? "Palestinians!" Which people sent condolences to America and expressed empathy for our loss on 09-11-2001? Israelis! Anybody who supports the "Palestinians" should visit their websites. See it for yourself.
Unbelievable. How is this that a man in such a high position is able to spout blantant falsehoods and the reaction is not condemnation but lending one's ear to his wordS? Getting rid of Jerusalem's Arabs? WHO is trying to do that? WHY CAN'T JERUSALEM REMAIN ETHNICALLY DIVERSE THE WAY IT IS? Not because of ISrael, that is clear. When Israel cannot build in Jewish areas of Jerusalem, what is the implication? NO JEWS ALLOWED IN AN EVENTUAL PALESTINIAN STATE. Is that justice? Is that equality? Is that parity with Israel's population of 1.2 MILLION Arab Israeli citizens? Shameful grandstanding, Your Majesty! When Jerusalem was under your country's jurisdiction, we all know what you did with the Jews of Jerusalem!
Israeli government will not change its expansionist policy until it sees THE u.s. IS serious about its own policy to promote rights and justice for all. Withhold monetary, military and diplomatic support, so the present Israeli administrathe seriousness of their action. Don't worry about AIPAC because there's now J Street Jewish group that has the same goals as U.S. government which is the two states solution with Jerusalem being shared but not divided.
Talk is cheap. Did you watch the youtube clip? There's a lot more where that came from. Twaddle my eye.
When can wish his words were true. It will be reciprocity for Arabs getting rid of all the Jews in Arab countries and most of the Christians. It is the same as Saudi talk re Switzerland banning minarets - as if Saudi's even allow churches, hindu temples, synagogs , etc to be built at all - forget about style of towers. This is an ongoing amnesia and selective fury with Arabs - they blame colonialism but forget the most brutal one was the Arabs (e.g. India), they mention Slavery in the USA but forget that it is still practiced in Islamic lands and that the worst were the Arab Slave Traders, they talk about discrimination to Arabs in the west but Every Islamic Country has insitutialized discrimination and persecution on a grander scale. And so it goes. The Arabs that live the in the biggest glass houses throw stones and if taken to task (not by the Europeans or the left ofcourse) then screen Islamophobia. When it is justified fear of Sharia, Jihad ,etc it is not a Phobia.
I have been reading so much hate for other people it is really hard to belive that any of you still exist. For hundreds of years the people of Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, and all the other countries that are in the Middle East, say they want to coexist. Why not just do it? Find a way to end all of this and start living together in true peace. The land that all of call yours will still be there for someone else to fight over unless you end this hate now. If you can't coexist, then sell out and find some place you know you'll be happy and live with those you can appreciate. Yes, I'm from the United States. Yes, we always seem to stick our nose into things we shouldn't, this is probally one of those. The leaders can only do so much to calm things. Lots of my friends are Arab, Jewish, Jordanian, Egyptian, French, German, Irish; and others from some of the countries that are in need. I don't care where they are from, I do try to help them get past the hate they're taught
Palestinians are the only people that assert that they are entitled to the fruits of ethnic cleansing by others. Although Jordan had ethnically cleansed all Jews from part of Jerusalem in 1948, that illegal Jordanian occupation ended in 1967. Why does ethnically cleansing Jews magically transform the ancient and modern Jewish capitol into "Palestinian land"? Isn't that both racist and arrogant?
Of course, there are some Israelis who want to rid the entire country of Arabs, but this will not happen. For the king to make these statements only pours more fire on an already explosive situation.
Richard, poor Richard. What makes Israel a "light unto all nation" as you put it: see below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV6K08RFRQs While the Muslim world has contributed NOTHING that benefits mankind in the last 100 years, Israel, against all odds has succeeded in so many areas. The humiliation this causes the Muslim world is nearly intolerable for them. While Israel has produced products that have saved millions of lives worldwide including Muslims, what have their enemies added besides suicide vests, IED's and multiple ways to target civilians and murder them. Always claiming some grievance to justify acts considered crimes in all civilized nations. BTW what other Muslim nation has a free press(instead of state controlled), true independent judiciary(respected worldwide)and elected officials in a unified government. Who? Iran? The Pals? The Saudi's? Egypt? Jordan with a King? Wake up and smell the coffee.
1967: 70.000 Arabs in J'lem. 2007: 250.000 Arabs in J'lem. So much for ridding J'lem of Arabs. Anecdotally, I recently spent the morning in the paediatric department of Hadassa Hospital Ein Kerem. I saw lots of Arab children, being treated, being entertained with craft activities... upon enquiry, I was told by one of its educational staff that the majority of young patients is Arab, now Jewish.I also saw lots of Arab staff, by the way, from cleaners to technicians to doctors. Arab population of J'lem shrinking? Of course it is. Just like there is Apartheid in IL, and I only imagined I saw lots of Arab children and staff in the hospital.
Jordan's Abdullah. His grandfather also Abdullah, the ruler of Transjordan, (Today) Jordan, would in today's terminology be considered a criminal: His Arab Legion destroyed & burnt every Synagogue in the Old city. Jews were not allowed to pray at the Western Wall. Jews were not allowed to pray at the Caves of the Patriachs. The head-stones of Jewish tombs were used to pave the pathway to the Latrines. What are people talking about ? The Arabs/Moslems have no mercy for any other religion: Neither Christian, nor Jewish. Even among themselves they massacre one another:Shea vs.Sunni. See the bloodbath in Iraq,& especially in Karballa. In Egypt, the Christians are persecuted & mobbed by the majority Moslems. Darfur.Same. Pakistan.Same. Iraq.Same. There's not a single country in the whole of the ME & indeed few in the world where freedom of religion is as free as it is in Israel. God Bless Israel.
Actually we are looking at a very sick Israel.
Even though you seem to have a taken a keen interest in the goings on here, you ignorance is startling. I understand your comment was meant to be one of those na na na na nah! you know finger in the nose one in the ear variety, BUT, you are once again Wrong. Sorry to destroy your misconceptions, but Arabs DO live in West Jerusalem, they just do not make it a habit to throw rocks at their neighbors, thus you know nothing of their existence. I suspect your are living in a perpetual state of bliss...as they say "ignorance is..."
but those who sell to Jews amongst Arabs and Arab countries are sentenced to death!
The Muslims are like the stupid bull in the bullring that sees something red and charges it. For them, the al-Aksa mosque is like the red cape of the matador; they charge and fall on the Israeli sword. When will they learn? "how many times will the arabs fall for the "the jews are taking over al aqsa" line?" "The following Friday, 23 August,(1929) inflamed by rumors that Jews were planning to attack al-Aqsa Mosque, Arabs started to attack Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem. The rumors and subsequent violence quickly spread to other parts of British Mandate of Palestine, with the murders occurring in Hebron and Safed. Other assaults took place in Motza, Kfar Uriyah, and Tel Aviv."
Where was the king when they cleansed South Lebanon from Christians. Where is the king when the Egyptians methodically continue to eliminate Christians from Egypt. Where was the King when Iraq was emptied of Jews first then Christians. The entire middle east was populated with jews way before the king could walk or talk. The middle east was cleared of jews for reasons we all know. So stop the hypocrisy we know your true colors. By the way I am a Christian who suffered on the hands of Palestinians in Lebanon, and we DO know their TRUE colors.
Sarah the land of israel belongs to the jews and to america and there arabs sarah please stay in philly
Apartheid?! you say. There are "mixed" neighborhoods in the mostly Jewish part of Jerusalem, as well as streets that were closed off after 1948 that were reconnected so that Arabs and Jews became neighbors again. As in the Galillee, it ain't perfect, but not as bad as some people radical pols and leftist opinion leaders would like to tell us. Heck, I hear that Arab youth from the "other side" get to Malkha and . . . apart from Arab boys and girls gettin' together away from the watchful eyes of their old maid aunts, they have been know to talk to Jewish girls, too. Here too, it ain't perfect, either, but hardly Apartheid.
" Sarah number 1, I am an American and you certainly do not speak for the majority of American Jews. Jews like you (if you are really Jewish)and your assmilated families are self hating and you constantly feel you need to prove your loyalty to America. It just shows how anti semitic it is in America. Praise Israel and pray for Israel as you will have no other place to run, when the USA kicks the Jews out in the not to distant future." LMAO you must be a retired American clown. Kick the Jews out of the USA lol Thats funny. One of your zionist buddies was just saying that Arabs are the ones that are in a frenzy and here it is you are saying jews will be kicked out of America. The only Jews that will be kicked out are the ones in your paranoid dreams. Make yourself a new tinfoil hat, as the one you have now is becoming weak. Use reynolds wrap not the bargain brand next time.
wHAT THE PAL. AND OTHER MUSLIMS IN THE AREA DONT UNDERSTAND IS IF IT WASN,T FOR ISREAL YOU ALL WOULD HAVE PROBABLLY BEEN NUKED BY NOW. AS LONG AS ISREAL EXISTS WHERE IT DOES THIS IS YOU BEST MISSLE DIFFENSE SYSTEM. WAKEY WAKEY. ABDULAHH THE ANGRY
What a pathetic little man from his tiny little kingdom. Does this guy have nothing better to do than spew propaganda? The truth is hard for him to swallow. There are now more Arabs in Jerusalem than ever, especially under his father's rule. Oh yea, his pappy was the fool got sucked into a war to wipe Israel off the map. Instead, it wiped out Arab rule of Jerusalem. Maybe Abdullah is upset that his father made the mistake of entering the war. And compounded that mistake by not completing the ethnic cleansing from 1948 - King Hussein could have destroyed all the Jewish antiquities in the west bank, not just the a few synagogues and cemetaries. Hussein should have pulled out all the stones from the wall of the Jewish temple and reduced them to dust. Instead, he left all the factual proof that Jews were in the Holy Land millenia before the Muslims.

Hussein should have pulled out all the stones from the wall of the Jewish temple and reduced them to dust. Instead, he left all the factual proof that Jews were in the Holy Land millenia before the Muslims.
Instead, he left all the factual proof that Jews were in the Holy Land millenia before the Muslims.
when are u going to stop your bullshit. why dont you just admit it you hate anyone that is not muslim. the genocide of armenians was the percursor to all others to follow, nazis, serbs, hutu and on. you dont have a problem coming to a country and expecting full rights but damn if you will allow it in your country.
jerk it was still the ottoman empire . therefore they worded it very carefully! oxford dictionary homeland -ones native land home - place of ones ancestors carried into san remo 1920 and then into the 1924 mandate for a jewish state . recognised in 1947 by britain who took it to the un for resolution
When the Moghuls swept into India they took over a Hindu temple in Ayodhya and converted it to Islam. For several centuries the Moslems prayed there, insisting it was purified by Allah by Believers who carried the message of the Prophet. After the Partition of the sub-continent the temple, which was in the Republic of India remained Moslem until a few years back when a Nationalist Hindu government thought it would be nice to give the temple back to the Hindus. Blood flowed on the streets because the Moslems, who were are a minority in India thought they could impose their beliefs, at least, by having converted the temple. Alas, it didn't work, and the Temple in Ayodhya is a Hindu place of worship, as it was before the Moghuls took it over. I guess Moslems imagine they can walk over anybody else's religion as long as they have enough weapons. Then too Hagia Sophia in Istanbul was a Greek Orthodox Church--these days it's a mosque.
Not according to the palestinian christians I met here in CA, whose properties were confiscated by the PA
Funny because Arabs are not the ones building settlements after they demolish houses of innocent people without reparation.
arabs are parasite in jerusalem, so what is wrong in getting rid of parasites
Imagine if Australia were behaving like the right-wing belligerent, apartheid, xenophobic government in Israel? Its clear to see why you choose to live in Australia, Peter.
you popet and you know it your grand papa and father get rid of jew and kill them and destroy every thing why you complain you should be greatfull we do not kill them just get rid of them
If Sami abu Ismail wants to pour scorn onto Arabs,ok;I suppose that's where he comes from. But the rest of the world can decide for itself and not be led by the nose by Arabs and Muslims. This seems to be a good illustration of the elitism inherent in Muslim culture. They cannot come to terms with the rest of the world not owing them a living and not feeling inclined to live as second class people to Muslim masters. There's also a good dose of the inherent mendacity in his posting. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
The king is not so stupid he doesn't know the rest of the world is standing mouth-agape at the crassness and irony of his statement on Jerusalem. But the population of Jordan is largely illiterate, the Jordan press is controlled tightly, global communications are poor, and hate speeches are the life-blood of the Arab Street. So, the king is pretty much broadcasting on a clear channel to an intellectually-challenged population, secure in the knowledge that his subjects will eat up and believe his nonsense.
the Arabs are already the majority in Jerusalem, and this isn't going to change, no matter how much effort Yishai will make in building new Jewish neighborhoods. And if the city will not be divided, soon, there will be an Arab Mayor. Now let's see how they will like this.
to live amongst "jews" in W.Jerusalem?. Apartheid?
#1 Sarah has every right to have an opinion, just as you have, but do you have to be so obnoxious in your reply? Every post of yours is in capitals.IMO you must be a very angry person...
From Husseins mouth to Gds ears.
"talknic", is that you, CJ ?
Makes you wonder - Jerusalem and the West Bank were under Jordanian control until 1967. Why is Jordan always so quite when Israel is forecefully changing the demographics on the ground? Still ashamed about being hammered in the 67 war? Or still as toothless as ever?
israeli policy in west bank and jerusalem is upsetting the king and his government . majority of jordanians refuses normalization with israel and demanding abolishing peace treaty . lately , muslim-brotherhood movement demanded jihad against israel and opening of borders for mojahidin to cross into israel and support palestinians .situation is tense and dangerous .
but the Jews considered it holy at least 1.000yrs BC. Al Axa was just another run-of-the-mill mosk until the Arabs realised the Jews will seriously challenge them so they concocted a story of holiness which to this day, has no credibility and is so full of holes that a colander has nothing on it.
http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2005/09/22/jordans_king_extends_hand_to_jews/
Do you think Israel should open Jerusalem like the Muslim's have opened Mecca?
"Hasn`t Jordan been revoking the citizenship of any person with Palestinian blood in their country." No. Impossible. The area that is now Jordan was a part of the non state entity of Palestine. Almost all it's citizens were Palestinian. (those who were from outside the area now known as Jordan, did not, as a matter of course, have the right to permanent Jordanian citizenship) Palestine refugees who'd been granted temporary citizenship are losing that temporary citizenship. See Jordanian Law http://www.unhcr.org/cgi-bin/texis/vtx/refworld/rwmain?docid=3ae6b4ea13 Article 3.
The capital of Israel is Tel Aviv not Jerusalem.
Given Jordan's behaviour of attempting and to a large extent succeeding in eliminating anything Jewish in the West Bank, this is quite an extraordinary statement. Having said that, & I'm trying hard to turn a more constructive leaf, there is a genuine concern in some circles about Israeli policies re Arabs, albeit I think, based on phobia heightened sensitivities. Again, what is required is forward looking compromise. History & historical justifications are a quagmire!
The first thing that has to be said is that Abdullah has no basis for his statement;it's just more of the anti-Israel innuendo and insinuation that we've had so much of lately. But I have a shrewd idea that Abdullah can say this because it's the thing that he would do if he were in the place of Mr Netanyahu. After all,it was his great grandfather,Abdullah 1 who made E Jerusalem Judenfrei in 1948 after his army illegally seized it,before he illegally annexed it. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
The "rubber bullets" mentioned in the article are, for those who think they may be soft, steel ball bearings covered with a thin layer of black plastic. They are capable of causing severe injury or death if fired at close range.
While cause for concern, please be informed, Palestinians retain permanent residency in Jordan. The King is making this move in response to increased calls by Israelis for the so-called Jordan Option....ie, forcibly removing non Jews from the West Bank into Jordan.
No offense, buddy, but you are speaking out of your behind. Christians are treated far better by the Jordanian government and by their fellow Palestinian bretheren than they ever were by the modern state of Israel.
Under Sovereignty or statehood and even under a non-state entity, the 'territory' belongs to the civilian population, even to a landless bum living under a bridge.
If you study history you will find that it is the Arabs that have used the Palestinians as an excuse to eliminate the Jews. May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob judge this world soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09pmTh64vD8&feature=fvw
As soon as you said "Pappe", I stopped reading your email.
they didn't say a state. http://wp.me/PDB7k-Q#jews-can-live-anywhere "he doesnt know the meaning of homeland in the balfour declaration and why they used the word homeland !!" Because they meant a home land, not a STATE. http://wp.me/pDB7k-pE

The Arab population is growing, not shrinking. His father ethnically cleansed Jerusalem of Jews. The Jews rebuild a synagogue his father blew up. And he accuses Israel of trying to rid Jerusalem of Arabs? How? By forcing their population to grow?
Hasn't Jordan been revoking the citizenship of any person with Palestinian blood in their country. They are washing their hands of the problem and dumping these people who have lived there for decades.
With the high Arab birthrate in Jerusalem, their population is growing, not shrinking. If the Arab population were shrinking, he might have a point. And all of the usual anti-Israeli numbskulls join the bash Israel bandwagon without thinking first.
Pappe documented this policy of Israel very well from the formation of modern day Israel. Netanyahu's words are deceptive since his actions reinforce this objective. Israel's actions repeatedly show their resistance to a just peace. There will not be justice doled out by Israel unless the Quartet takes a proactive role in guaranteeing the viability, independence and security of a contiguous Palestinian state. Remnants of IDF, settlers and exclusive Israeli highways within Palestine are all catalysts for violence against the Palestinian people.
Hi father was called "Hussey" so I'm passing on the tradition. I would like someone to please explain how any Muslim or Christian holy sites are threatened. They are not as we all know so this kind of talk is just the kind of rabble-rousing gibberish that Arabs (and some Jews) love to engage in. I thought he was above that.
Once the US military starts complaining about the blowback from Israel's actions on our soldiers who will you side with? Still Israel? Over our american soldiers? That is treason.
Israel is loosing the demographic 'race' in Jerusalem in big, no matter how much effort yishai puts in building new neighborhoods. If the city will not be divided, soon there will be an Arab mayor. let's see how they will like this.
Your desire to have a project for a final solution of the Palestinian problem shows through every once in a while.
you and your present gov. are sooooo very good at destroying alliances (turkey, USA) and now jordan? you will be left with nothing which is what you deserve
Do you think Israel should open Jerusalem like the Arabs have opened Mecca?
muslims should give back all land they conquered by killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of people. Israel and Jerusalem is totally Jewish and the muslims always lie and try to change real history. Tell the little midget, king of jordan ,to let Jews live there, he won't. If muslims in Israel don't like it leave, if they start trouble allow them to leave or force them back to arabia. The muslims are a ignorant people believing in a racist political cult.
Been wondering about that myself for decades. The usual explanation is that their level of civilization is so primitive that it is unfair to expect better. Like expecting your dog to talk. A corollary is that it leaves one speechless. Like at a dinner party, one could talk about a blunder like using the wrong fork, but if someone defecates on the table, it is quite beyond words. I have a simpler explanation: The US and Europe are avoid such criticism out of fear that Saudi and other oil producing state would retaliate by raising the price in retaliation.
Well, King Abdullah. How can anyone deny your comments. It's impossible! The problem is that Israel is doing exaclty what it wants. The number of settler has dubbled since that famous(infamous) handshake on the White House lawn. Why is that? Israel never wanted peace! It keeps building settlements in eastern Jerusalem to Jews, while denying building permits to the Palestinians.
what would Jerusalem be without the Arabs? The Arab and Jewish mixture make it such a special place. If it were a place inhabited solely by both orthodox and secular Jews it would become a cross between a shabby run down schul and a Macdonalds theme park with Ikea stores every other mile. Eventually nobody would want to even visit and even Christians would shun it. "Forgive them Lord for they do not know what they are doing" I think Jesus meant this for Bibi.
I agree with you.It sad, very sad that people like you are breathing oxigen that could be much better used to support rats...HOW MANY JEWS LIVE AND WORK AND ARE FREE TO WORSHIP IN PEACE AND GET SOCIAL BENEFITS IN AMMAN JORDAN???? IF ISRAEL IS SO BAD AND BIBI IS A CRIMINAL, CONVERT YOUR SORRY SELF TO ISLAM AND HAVE YOURSELF A NICE INFIBULATION(CLITORIS AMPUTATION)
Does he remember that his father threw the Jews out of the Old City, desecrated and destroyed our synagogues and would not let us pray at the Wall? Who the hell does he think he's kidding? Oh, right, preserving himself like everyone else - not the least of whom is Obama -on the backs of the Jews.
The jews are returning to the property they owned.
Holy Places in fact Israel is only country in ME that keep the holy places for all religions with respect. What respect if any jews are getting in the Arab world. please provide examples, do they have synagoges that they can go in peace and pray and if yes give us an exaple, shame on you.All the noise is one: insitment!!!!! and hate spreading against Israel.
Abdullah is walking the same tightrope that his daddy, Hussein, did. Why doesn't he go back to Hejaz in "Saudi" Arabia and leave "Jordan" to its original inhabitants. Talk about chutzpah--didn't the "Jordanians" desecrate Jerusalem's holy places and make it Judenrein from 1948 to 1967!
"The USA is being mortgaged by China thanks to Obama." Thanks to "Bush's Wars", more likely...
Didn't you arabs got rid of most of the jews that lived in arab countries? Most left of fear and the one that did not were attacked and threaten some killed and their property taken. The situation in Jerusalem is fueled by arab propoganda. No one wants to take your holy places!!!
Proper path for PA state should be to include Trans-Jordan in any land deal - giving ethnic Palestinians their 70% share of present-day Jordan, where they are a 70% majority, and giving the 30% hashemite bedouins the eastern third of the country, where they originated before the Brits decided to give them the rest to insure it remained a Brit colonial outpost. That would give the "Palestinians" a 24,000 sq. mile state 3 times the size of Israel instead of a 1600 sq. mile state, while Hashemites would retain a 12,000 sq. mile state, still far more than they controlled before the Brits stepped in and gave away Palestine in violation of their Mandate charter. The tiny "W. Bank" (which Trans-Jordan named the western province it stole from Palestinian Arabs in 1948 and annexed) can then be divided 50-50 between Arab and Jew. There's no 1600 sq. mile "viable states" in the world, except for Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, "contiguity" has nothing to do with it. Don't need 2 Palestinian states.
This has to be the stupidest thing that I have ever read. I only wish that the Israeli government had the courage to do what Abdullah claims that Israel is doing. The Hamas government in Gaza has decided to name 2 public squares after 2 terrorists from Hamas and Fatah, one of which was a suicide bomber. Last week the PLO named a square after a female terrorist responsible for the death of 35 Israelis. Where is the outrage? What have Biden, Clinton, and Abdullah said about this? I guarantee you that if Israel named a Baruch Goldstein Square it would be the lead story in every news report.
Isn't it his grand father that ethnically cleansed Jerusalem from its jews and destroyed the jewish quarter. Not to mention that until 1967 jews, even visiting from Europe, were not allowed near the western wall.
This is a blatant attempt by Abdullah to inflame the Arabs. Jerusalem is a red line? Every one knows the Arabs stole it from the Jews. Even Jordan was one of the thieves having taken possession of it for a period of time. Let Abdullah be CLEAR on this: Christians prefer and feel safer with Jerusalem under Israeli rule rather than belligerent Arab rule. So, he should just shut his trap and not mention Christians at all in his wickedness and bacchanal.
"bibi stop your criminal condugt... your selfish acts of terror". your statement really reflects the views of so many people around the world. unfortunately there many like those in the israeli government or those in aipac or adl or so many malignant americans who regularly insult the american president and have instead taken sides with that defiant israeli prime minister.
he doesnt know the meaning of homeland in the balfour declaration and why they used the word homeland !!
Arabs has always been suffering from silence when it comes to the Palestinian case and Jerusalem. The last 60 or 70 years is enough to say that this is an Arab chronic disease. Even though most of the Arab governments are wealthy and dominate the largest oil and energy sources in the world in addition to the largest percentage of youth in the world, they are still can't do anything. Israel, being realistic, is a strong country bearing in mind their well-trained soldiers and powerful air forces. However, they should also realize that they don't really have a demographic or geographic advantage over Arabs, in case this disease has been treated. Having said that, Israel should realize that continuous provocation would lead to an Intifada, but perhaps an Arab inftifada where governments can be replaced by revolutionary councils and military and revolutionary forces may lead the new revolution. Everything is possible and Israel will loose if it didn't choose peace with Arabs.
My previous commments were mistakenly addressed to you. My previous comments are for the Israel and Jew haters in this chat room.
To all Jews, took their properties and allowed squatters to move, destroyed all the synagogues and Jewish cemeteries, alll the while he did not move his capital to Jerusalem for 19 years, nor did he grant a state or citizenship to the people of the west bank or Jerusalem.
An interesting comment from the king of the country who's arab legions actually did " clean " Jerusalem of it's jewish inhabitants.
living there and you will be respected and pray in Kotel. Palestinians are not "Grab and Greed" People
Israel has 1 million Palestinians in proper Israel, 20% of the population, with full rights as citizens, including representitives in parliament. No Israeli government will give back the Mount of Olives with the oldest Jewish cemetary in the world on its hill. And that is in East Jerusalem, so what to do? I haven't got the answer but time will tell.
Invest in new construction in Jerusalem and undue what your father did by destroying structures.
Only.... Have you ever heard of "none is too many" it applied to Canadian Jews. We also know what hardship is. If lefty American Jews dont like what Israel is doing convert to Islam. Stand firm BIBI
The facts are on the ground. Jerusalem is disputed territory, therefore your claims of illegality are also disputed.
Why not? Till 67 the West Bank including East Jerusalem was Jordan.
The total of the USA annual aid to Israel makes up less than 1% of Israel`s Gross Domestic Product. Israel could very easily survive without US aid. If Israel abandons the USA the USA would suffer more. Israel sells drones to the USA that are used in Afganistan and provides intelligence to the USA that no other country can provide. The USA is being mortgaged by China thanks to Obama. Much of the technology your computer uses was developed in Israel. Remmember if not for Jewish scientist the USA would of not of had the Atom bomb which saved a half a million American lives. We owe Israel and the Jews alot but were to proud to admit it as Americans.
The annexation of East Jerusalem was declared ILLEGAL by UNSC Resolution 252 (1968)of 21 May 1968 UNSC Resolution 267 (1969) of 3 July 1969 UNSC Resolution 271 (1969) of 15 September 1969, UNSC Resolution 298 (1971) of 25 September 1971, UNSC Resolution 465 (1980) of 1 March 1980, UNSC Resolution 476 (1980) of 30 June 1980 And yet, Israel defies the International Community.
Interesting analysis on history here. There is a history of loss by the Jewish people of the land - the Egyptians, the Babylonians and the Romans. It was Darius (Persian) who freed them from Babylon and ordered the temple to be rebuilt - the one the Romans destroyed. Jerusalem was a Canaanite city with a history at least 1000 years prior to the Jews arriving. The Canaanites are the ancestors of the modern Palestinians. Sinful Israel(i government) should be more concerned with its own actions than those of other men? The fear is that history will repeat itself.
To my untrained EAR it is weird to hear that Jews cannot build in their OWN CAPITAL. It is like telling Italians that they cannot build no more for real Italians in Rome but reserve half of it for refugees from Angola. Yes, you heard me right, palestinians are recent transients from other countries and if not for Jews that place would of been barren desert with no body for hundreds of miles.. Jewish people, build your Capital, Jeruslaem, make it beautiful and blooming-green. Make it safe for tourists of all religions to enjoy the sceneries in safety and comfort without politics and verbal assults. As for palestinians they will never be part of Israel and have a great choice of countries with the same cultures, language and customs.
talk about draconian viewpoints why didn't your dad give it back KIng? after all he WAS king too! you would never give it up
they controlled it? if jordan still controlled it do oyu think they nwould give back then? NO they would not stop playing us a fool king (what a joke that is) we still have 'kings' in this day and age
all the bad stuff that happened to jews never happened to him....just like kahane he imgines all the bad done to jews over the ages we personally done to him.....get oveer it Arnold you are nothing but a spopiled brat and prima donna
How many enemies does Israel want? US Brazil all the neghbours including Jordan and Dubai. Only Egypt is left.
be illegally building Israeli civilian dwellings, illegally building Israeli civilian infrastructure and ILLEGALLY selling ILLEGALLY acquired territory to ILLEGAL settlers. But that's what happens when you demand a separate Jewish state and GET IT, instead of graciously accepting a homeland in Palestine. Who was it who never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity? http://wp.me/pDB7k-pE
"The following Friday, 23 August,(1929) inflamed by rumors that Jews were planning to attack al-Aqsa Mosque, Arabs started to attack Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem. The rumors and subsequent violence quickly spread to other parts of British Mandate of Palestine, with the murders occurring in Hebron and Safed. Other assaults took place in Motza, Kfar Uriyah, and Tel Aviv.
You really don't me to spell it out for you, do you?
'Jerusalem is a red line and the world should not be silent about Israel's attempts to get rid of Jerusalem's Arabs residents ...' Israel doesn't appear to be attempting to make Jerusalem 'Arabrein'. What I think the Israel aim is, is to ensure a majority Jewish popuation in east Jerusalem - placing enough 'facts on the ground' to make the Palestinian's own goal of a capital city there difficult if not impossible. Regardless, I think both sides' objectives are unrealistic ones. Let them reconsider a return to the idea and goal of the Jerusalem 'corpus separatum' - not a carbon-copy of UNGAR 181, but one which at least places the historic parts of the city, and its religious shrines, of all three great faiths, under neutral administration. I can't think of any other way to prevent eternal war over the city of peace. MV
JORDAN'S turning it's back as usual, on it's own people (PALS), and is just some more hypocrisy from a inherited dictatorship MONARCHY, not a democratically elected leader... an accident of birth...a denial of responsibility
What the world should realize is the fact that the Hashemites should go back to Egypt, leaving Jordan (=Transjordan = Palestine) to the rightful owners the Palestinians. That is their country, and everyone who read history knows it. Even "king" Hussein knows it, but tries to blame the Jerusalem "occupation" on Israel. It is him who is occupying a place that does not belong to him.
Hebrew/Israeli people, where in the arab world do they (arabs) give respect to any non-moslem religion? How is it that moslems demand understanding and tolerance for islam when they incite violence in a country that is not islamic. Who cares if Israel is in the heart of the islamic world. By the way the world isnt islamic it multicultural with many religions. The world tolerates this islamic garbage but it high time give islam due respect and thats No respect at all. And yes Jerusalem should be rid of arabs for their disrespect alone. They are the third religion in the abrahamic line dead last. 1. Judaism, 2. Christianity and then islam.
did they not blow up the just rebuilt-rededicated Hurva Synagogue? And did they not attempt to decimate all Jewish presence under their control as well as desecrate Jewish cemetery monuments for army latrines & walkways?
no precondition and should've stayed for negoiating arabs safty and arab rights in jeruselem
if they're not Jordanian Palestinians? Only the Palestinians in the area that became Jordan had a right to permanent Jordanian Citizenship. Those in what was left of the non-state entity of Palestine when Jordan became a Sovereign State, were not and are still NOT Jordanian.
"The whole issue was is and forever will be the arabs trying to rid the middle east of jews by dividing Israel or destroying her" You have it around the wrong way, Danny. Who has been thrown out of Jerusalem and had their homes demolished recently? The Palestinians, but of course...
So, I guess your point is that policemen are not people, and instead are appropriate rock targets. In London, is it common now to go around throwing rocks at the police? Doesn't sound like the London I used to enjoy visiting.
Thats right Freddy. Many of those who have Jordanian citizenship are having it revoked. The reason is if they are a citizen they lose their right of return. The king wants to preserve their rights under Int. Law.
Someone should remind the king that it was his kingdom that expelled all jews from East Jerusalem in 1948.
First of all arabs have been ridding all cities and countries of jews for centuries. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and they have every right to build housing in their country. The difference is that jews allow arabs to live there as well. The arabs now see that world opinion is getting behind them and they are trying still to divide and/or destroy Israel as they have always tried to do and still hope to. King abdullah has a very vast country that once housed many of these peoples and they through them out of the country. These power broker oil barons with their vast wealth and vast amounts of land could step up to the plate at any time any make a home a palestinian state happen in an instant. But the real motives are very clear and plain to see from any intelligent person. The whole issue was is and forever will be the arabs trying to rid the middle east of jews by dividing Israel or destroying her.
Abdullah is using Taqiyya (deceit) to fool the world to add fuel to the conflict. It is time the Free World tells the Taqiyya maniacs to stop spewing their crap. If he wants to help his own people, he should let them live in their own large country in Jordan where the population is 70% Palestinians. Instead he fuels the conflict with his crap.
how many times will the arabs fall for the "the jews are taking over al aqsa" line?
Sarah number 1, I am an American and you certainly do not speak for the majority of American Jews. Jews like you (if you are really Jewish)and your assmilated families are self hating and you constantly feel you need to prove your loyalty to America. It just shows how anti semitic it is in America. Praise Israel and pray for Israel as you will have no other place to run, when the USA kicks the Jews out in the not to distant future.
its obvious that you spend a great deal of time on these talk backs and i was wondering if you had a job? or are these talk backs your job? Just curious if i am reading the rants of a man or the rants of a organization... thanks
The arabs are experts at hysteria and riling up the rest of the world in their pathetic frenzy. Now King Hussein is stating Israel is trying to rid Jerusalem of Arabs? This is ridiculous and pretty reckless diplomacy on his part. But again the arabs aren't the most polished diplomats so they use hysteria, riots and other scare tactics to riled up the western world to condemn and pressure Israel. The western world is too afraid to stand up to these people fearing their streets will be run amock with muslims reaking havoc and destruction. This is their form of "diplomacy".
And that is why the Arab population continues to increase at a rate faster than the Jewish rate. Its the same rhetoric that claims Israel is ethnically cleansing the Palestinians. Unfortunately Arab leaders' statements actually reflect their own, opposite objectives, ie they are trying to rid Jerusalem,"Palestine" and the world of Jews.
wow Israel is now a Pawiah state amongst young people in America... Once they grow several years older it is over for Israel, no matter what they do... the opinions of the young have already been decided, including me... I cant stand next to Israel any longer, even after volunteering in their army..
Do you think, O Sami, that just because you say so, Jerusalem has suddenly become the heart of the Muslim and Arab World? Whatever happened to Mecca and Medina? Why do you disrespect Islam and Arabs? And will you be calling London the heart of the Arab and Muslim World in a few years' time? "The World, officials and ngo right groups are watching on the side line, waiting for the complete conversion of Jerusalem and the final victory of the Western project in the heart of Arab and Muslim World."
....further. The Obama administration has taken a stand for the very first time now. So the best thing for the Arabs to do, is sit back and remain quiet, and give the U.S. a chance to reign in on right-wing Israels/Diasporas plans. Should Obama/Clinton all of a sudden back down (which I honestly can't imagine, given what's at stake for them now, namely not more and not less than U.S. credibility around the globe), the Palestinians, supported by the Arab neighbours, can still declare Intifada Nr. 3. But at this point of time, violence makes absolutely no sense for them....
The deep rooted Jew's hatred for Arabs and vice versa it seems impossible for a two state solution. Whatever Abdallah the impot says irrelevant here. Will they ever stop hating each other. Can anybody explain first of all the reasons for hatred? In this part of the world we really don't understand.
The Jordanians in 1949 ethnically cleansed all of East Jerusalem of jews... I guess what goes around comes around...
who -like many other Arab monarchs in the same period- succeeded to accomplish in 1948 a 100 % ethnic cleansing of Jews from Jerusalem's old city. The same area has belonged to Israel for 43 years and the Arabs are still there.
Didn't I read recently that it was Jordan who wouldn't give Palestinians citizenship?
Now that the whole world accuses Israel of pushing the Arabs out of Jerusalem, let's not make liers out of them and indeed get rid of the Arabs once and for all.In the process we can let them take their holy sites with them.
Sarah speak for yourself. I am a Jew and live in America and I stad behind Bibi. Why don't you call on Abbas to act like a leader not a little kid who cries when ever something is said about him. The Pals have never once came to the table for peace, they ask, demand and when they don'tget what they want, blame Israel and start an Intifada, and then cry to the UN. That's the game you support, sospeak for yourself not ME.
I dont think I have read something so ridiculous! "Of course, the Muslim/Arab world has several hearts... Cairo, Tehran, Fez, Ankara, Baghdad. How many hearts do you require, selfish bastard?" Fist off, its not 'heart' of the Muslim world, its known as a sacred site and there are 3 in Islam, Mecca, Medina and the Dome of the rock. Secondly, Cairo, Iran, Fez, Ankara and Baghdad are cities that are all part of the Muslim world. Its like saying Americans are selfish - they have 51 states! Dimwit!
In your posting you say that because we suffered we should understand that we are doing the same to others. How can you even compare what we Jews have gone through over the centuries to what is happening in the West Bank or Gaza. Do you compare Gaza to the Warsaw ghetto ? And when Gaza was given back totally in land to the Palestinians did they stop their firing. It is only after Cast Lead that there is only the occasional missile fired. On the two sided story ...where is the tolerance and respect of Shia to Sunni let alone to Jew or Christian ? I am surprised by your notion that Israel is an occupier. Archeological digs are proving over and over Hebrew/Jewish rites to the land. When the Moslems realize THEY NEED to share the land with the Hebrew/Jewish indiginous population, then we have the seeds of a peaceful co-existence.
Those young masked males were throwing stones at fully-armed,fully-protected POLICE (not the general public), who hit back with rubber bullets, stun grenades and smoke bombs. If those IMPRESSIONABLE YOUNGSTERS had instead been incited to run a marathon or swim a mile, I'm sure they would have obliged.
I am a proud Canadian of Jewish upbringing. I am well read and can see both sides of any dispute. It is very easy for you other Jews to say you are disheartened with Israel and policies but please analyze how we got here. Let us put aside for the time being the holocaust and persecution of Jews during WW11. Let us go back further. We were persecuted and slaughtered by several other regimes because of our beliefs in one spiritual deity. Early on before the birth of Jesus. BCE - the Greeks - the Romans After the Romans executed Jesus and the beginnings on Christianity - the expulsion out of Spain- preceded by mass killing - then the Inquisition - the Arab Moors followed by the Islamic big hearted folks - the Crusaders who practised killing Jews in europe on their way to the Holy Land - the Russian pogroms - and the Holocaust Maybe after all this as a people we finally are standing up for ourselves. We were willing to share Israel but once again we were attacked. Understand ?
knows damned well that kids who have lived under occupation ALL their lives do not need Iran to encourage them to throw what's left of their houses at their occupiers. Their occupiers are more than enough reason. That this escapes you is quite amazing. So amazing, I doubt that it does actually escape you at all. Which makes it even sadder.
You do not speak for me and for many other American Jews. Visit Jerusalem during one of those riots, or just attempt to pray at the Kotel when stones rain down from the eights of the Temple Mount. I still, after five years, do not have the full use of my right arm and I saw one woman hit on the head. And this was during Sukkot, which at the time coincided with Ramadam. If you stand on the hills of Jerusalem you can see the shimmering Mediterranean, a mere 25 kilometers away. So do not talk to me about a small country,. Visit Jerusalem during Pesach and look at a map of the Middle East.
Where comes the arrogance from in thinking/believing that the Israelis/Jews have the right to occupy others? That only power and humiliation can work and let other people feel that they are lesser than dogs? Doesn?t this remind us of other times Jews have experienced, and still do today? Don't treat others the way you don't want to be treated yourself! Don't talk then over anti-Semitism, bad behaviour of others towards the Jews, because you do it to others too. I was born and raised in Israel, left many years ago, because already then, with Shamir, the ?monsters" of today were created. My family doesn't feel/think like me, most of them are right-wing believers. We are not allowed to talk about politics, otherwise it will be the end of our contact. I?m amazed and ashamed that many Israeli?s do not have any tolerance/kindness of any form towards others. Of course every story has two sides, but respect, tolerance, peace and kindness is something you constantly have to work on!
the silence of the so called humanitarians unless there is a political point to score for their one eyed agenda. How many letters are written by the elites when Moslems kill Moslems or Christians eg 500 Christian women & children deliberately hand slaughtered by Moslems? No Richard they were not picking up Qassam launchers etc Pals torture murdering each other? A day of Arab rioting in Israel and none killed-spin that!
Without USA help your gone.
PSM nails it again, as long as Israel is a notch above Iran or Darfur or Saudi, anything the IDF does is OK. However, meeting these minimum standards of humanity DOES NOT make you and your fellow travellers a "Light unto nations", let alone a western democracy.
... is that Sarah in Philly believes she accurately speaks for American Jews. I submit that few Americans of any religious or political persuasion are impressed by hordes of young masked males throwing rocks at people at the behest of Iran's stooge.
Hamas calls a Day of Rage and Fatah just keeps quiet? If so, Fatah is equally guilty. Israel allows the Islamic trust to run the Temple Mount to the point of not allowing Jews to pray silently on the area of the Temple Mount permitted to Jews according to Jewish Law. Israel does all it can to keep peace with Muslims' heritage sites, while Jordan dynamited the synagogues in the Jewish Quarter and used Jewish tombstones from the Mount of Olives for the floors of latrines. The Great Day of Reckoning will come.
"We are seeing signs of disorderly conduct," said Cohen, "but that is only a headline. We must be careful about characterizations and remarks being made." - Police Chief David Cohen There were disturbances of law and order, not wholesale rioting. Anyone who thought different has never seen a riot, which can be apolitical and take place in a sports stadium. The photos published in the press show clearly that the headlines were not borne out. Most of the Palestinian people do not want violence, they want peace. Now we need to get to the stage where most of our people do not want violence and crave peace. That means accepting that there will be concessions and that those concessions will be beneficial not only to the other side but to one's own.
The day after the troubles filled the newspapers, stones flew in the air, and there was a general pandemonuium, nothing happened. You, like many others assume that when some Islamic leader calls upon the Believers to "act" means that they speak for the people they are supposed to represent. Midway through this debacle, there was call for a two hour strike, and . . . it wasn't. Some Arabs in the Old City have issues with their "leadership". Hamas in Gaza terrorizes the Fatah, internet cafes, and any other source that might dispute their authority. Seems to me that ain't no partner I want to share a turf. Other than that, considering the troubles the US is experiencing, the unemployment, the national debt, the negative trade balance, the bank failures, . . . We're lookin' at the Old Sick Man of North America.
"The World, officials and ngo right groups are watching on the side line, waiting for the complete conversion of Jerusalem and the final victory of the Western project in the heart of Arab and Muslim World." Without doubt, Jerusalem is the heart of the Jewish world. I thought Saudi Arabia was the heart of the Muslim/Arab world. Of course, the Muslim/Arab world has several hearts... Cairo, Tehran, Fez, Ankara, Baghdad. How many hearts do you require, selfish bastard?
hysterical screams of outrage from those who really couldnt care less unless they can bash Israel. How long would a masked demonstrator holding an opposition flag last in Mullahland?
Al Qudus Al Sharif, is dying as an Arab and Muslim Holy City. Arab dictators and Palestinian PLO are all serving the interest of Israel and killing all prospects of resistance and hope for the restoration of rights in Palestine. The World, officials and ngo right groups are watching on the side line, waiting for the complete conversion of Jerusalem and the final victory of the Western project in the heart of Arab and Muslim World. But, regardless of the balance of power at present, the historical right in the Holy land for Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims cannot be erased by force, ruse or intimidation. Tha last word is yet to come, even late.
Until Israel and the Pals (& Arab world) cease making their historic cases and negotiate forward looking compromises neither Peoples will realize their ambitions. Its time for cessation of stupidity and hatred and the beginning of making room for each other in all places that are important to each other.
I am extremely saddened by my country. Israel is playing a very dangerous game. We will find ourselves alone, without any allies, because we are being very greedy and irresponsible. What else are Pals to do than to revolt, when the little land allocated to them is being taken away, again. Bibi stop your criminal conduct, we the Jews of America , no longer stand behind your selfish acts of terror.
