IDF shoots dead three Palestinians, destroys arms warehouse in Gaza Strip
Israel Defense Forces troops shot and killed three Palestinians in two separate incidents in the Gaza Strip on Friday, the army and Palestinian doctors said.
Also Friday, Israel Air Force helicopters fired two missiles near the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses said.
The IDF said the target of the attack was a Gaza warehouse that was used for making weapons.
The air strike in the Mughazi refugee camp in central Gaza set off a fire, but caused no injuries. The building's owner denied weapons were being made on the premises, saying he was storing wood for construction in the building.
The army said the building was owned by a well-known Hamas activist "who is involved in the manufacture of explosive devices."
However, residents identified the owner as Moussa Kanadel, a prominent merchant whom they said has no ties to the Islamic militant group.
The warehouse was also struck by Israeli missiles three months ago.
In the morning, soldiers shot toward two suspicious Palestinians approaching an Israeli-controlled area near the Karni crossing, the army said. The shots hit the two men and set off a bomb apparently carried by one of them, the army said.
The bodies of the Palestinians were evacuated by Palestinian ambulances only hours later, after the IDF searched the area for explosives, the army said. Palestinians did not immediately comment on the incident.
After nightfall, IDF troops near the Gaza Strip settlement of Rafiah Yam fired at two Palestinians walking in an area forbidden to Palestinian travel, the army said. They were carrying what appeared to be an explosive device, the army said.
One of the Palestinians was killed and the other seriously injured, Palestinian doctors said. Relatives of the men told the doctors they were near their homes in the town of Rafah when soldiers shot them.
Also Friday, Palestinians fired three Qassam rockets at the Negev city of Sderot, and five people were treated for shock. One of the rockets landed near a school.
Palestinians also fired a mortar shell at the Gaza settlement of Netzarim; there were no injuries.
