Hungarian MP: Jews want to take over the world

Comments by Oszkar Molnar, of Hungary's opposition, sparked outrage but no official condemnation.

By Yehuda Lahav Tags: Jewish World Israel news anti-Semitism

A member of Hungary's main opposition party has accused the Jews of trying to take over the country.

"I'm a Hungarian nationalist. I love my homeland, love the Hungarians and give primacy to Hungarian interests over those of global capital - Jewish capital, if you like - which wants to devour the entire world, especially Hungary," Oszkar Molnar, a member of parliament, said in a television interview earlier this month.

As proof of his assertion that Jews are plotting to take over Hungary, Molnar claimed to have discovered that the language of instruction in Jerusalem's schools is Hungarian, and when asked why, students said they were "learning their future homeland's language."

The statement sparked an outcry among Hungarian politicians, with protests coming from, inter alia, the ruling Socialist Party, the youth wing of the Alliance of Free Democrats, and a group of intellectuals known as the Democratic Network, as well as the Jewish community.

But Molnar's party, Fidesz, has not condemned his statement - and Fidesz, according to the polls, is likely to take power when elections are held this spring. Party leader Viktor Orban did term the statement "embarrassing," but declined to denounce it. He said he would not even consider ousting Molnar from his party or parliamentary faction, as the remark "did not violate the party's bylaws."

Rumors of a mass Jewish return to Hungary have been floating around the country for some time. But until now, they have been confined to marginal, far-right web sites.

Dear Friends: our real world cosists of a lot of antisemits in every country, but not every country would like to be named as antisemitic. Everything from parents, education, good breeding. Jewish people or CENTURIES try to save only LIFE, but not "to take over the world". In XX centiry Hitler killed 6 mln, jews in Holocaust. To-day the same ugly situation.

I'm so sorry to hear it...I have so many friends among Hungarians and Hungarian Jews, this kind of attitude should always be condemned

Why doesn't someone suggest to them that they must learn hebrew, so when we take over the world they would get a job with the occupying forces. Last but not least, they should learn how to make ' gefilte fish ', ' kiska ', and ' chopped liver ' with lots of garlic in order to get in the good grace of their new masters...!

I beg to differ with you.Israel has the right to defend and care for her citizens not to watch over the Jews in the Diaspora. Israel does one basic thing for the Jews throughout the world..they have an open door with a welcome mat and if you choose to make aliyah you are welcome into the arms of the country. Why should Israel cease to care for her people and cease to defend the country at the expense of Jews who want to live comfortably elsewhere. Does this make any sense at all? And as for this causing bigotry and anti semitism what was the reason for thousands of years of hatred when there was no Israel?Israel has her priorities right..care for those who live and work and defend the country....those outside will have to care for themselves and if they are looking towards the leftist so called leadership in the U.S. for their security they had better pack their bags and get out quick...with people like emmanuel and axelrod...chomsky and lerner we are already doomed

Nobody can really prove that there is real jewish conspiracy to take over the world. The rich, be it jewish or muslim or christian, the rich capitalist blood suckers want to take over the world by using their political influence. So if there is a group of people who can be safely accused of wanting to take over the world are the rich capitalists who worship money and you can find muslim, jewish or christian versions of these people. These are the people against whom we should display resistance and anger.

""How is it that criticism of Iran is not anti-Islam and criticism of Serbia is not anti-Christian, but criticism of Israel is anti-Judaism?"" It's not about "criticism of Israel".It's about a threat to "wipe out Israel " which is repeated over and over again by the medieval clique of retards who runs Iran with the complicity of many who allow them to spread their incitement to genocide from "prestigious" forums such as international gatherings in Geneva and New York among others... The question is: what would be the consequences of "wiping out Israel" and some believe that it could end up in the total eviction of Jews from there and their relocation in...Hungary among others.Good old excuse to revive and promote antisemitism as an expedient and powerful political tool endangering the lives of milions. Maybe you should ask the right questions and you will get the answers

Israel is irrelevant here. Christian and Muslims have made up all kinds of excuses over the centuries to persecute us. Countries have done worse. It is irrelevant what Israel does. If Israel hadnt been re-created it would have been worse. As for what you obviously read versus what Israel actually does, I think you are reading more propaganda than facts. Anti-semites love to use propaganda and ignore the facts. The Arab world is based on it. Its a house of cards ready to crash.

Hungarian? Hmm, lets see, English, Hebrew, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Russian, and maybe a few others, but Hungarian? I dont know who even offers that as a language for study. 450,000 Jews were slaughtered from Hungary. Why would we ever want to live there again? I am shocked by the number of Jews who moved to Germany. My father escaped Nazi Austria. While I know it was the Nazis, and not all of Europe, European history has been to slaughter Jews for centuries. I am done with Europe forever. We might visit, but would never live there. Besides, Israel is our homeland, always has been, not Europe, the disapora.

      • 18:36

That was a reaction to Simon Peres' speech who did say something like that in one of his speeches, but the sentence was taken out of context and blown out of proportion by the Hungarian right. The same guy also bashed homosexuals, and claimed that Roma women harmed their children to get more child support. Fidesz should have condemned what he said, but according to political experts Fidesz tries to steal votes from the now popular Hungarian far right by appealing to their supporters.

I got news for this so called "socialits-natiomalist" clown. Jews have had a presence in Hungary since the time of the Romans. When did the Hungras & Magyars migrate there?? Also, during the time of the Khazars, 7th-11th century C.E., the Hungarians were their allies aginst the other major powers in the area. Jews left Hungary due to the rabid anti-semistism that developed in the following centuries when the Hungarians converted to Christianity and their teachings. Since then, the only thing that has changed are the faces. My great-grandparents left Budapest in 1887, due this rabid anti-semistism. I, for one, will NEVER go back and I will not buy anything that is made in Hungary. These bigots can stew in their own rabid hatred.

But then it would only be fodder for his mindset to accuse the media of being controlled by the Jews.

Anti-Semitism is not important. What is important and that every Jew must understand around the world is that Israel is make us all vulnerable to attacks by the bigots because of its actions and policies against the Occupied Territories and the Palestinians. The Settlers (the few) are pushing the agenda of the state (the majority. The state has a responsibility to the majority, to all Jews around the world, not to just a few fanatical crazies who live Hebron or East Jerusalem! This gives the hate mongers their fuel and adds legitimacy to their claim. The State must stop the abuses or we will all become targets!

One of my distant cousins and I used to correspond, but when I was in Vienna and wanted to see his home, I was told that no Jews had ever lived there. Antisemitism is still alive and well in Edurope, and resurging in the US. Unfortuntely I am too old to make aliyah.

I'm always amazed when I read of such idiots attaining positions of power and influence.Of course what is really most worrying is not one idiot's comments but rather the lack of official condemnation from government and party officials. But that should come as no surprise as Hungary was virulently anti semitic during WW II,perhaps more then the Nazis themselves.

Well, I must confess--I am planning ot take over Hungary. Although I've never been there and would have a bit of trouble even finding it on a map, in my heart I am just wating for the day I can learn to like Hungarian gulosh, speak thier strange language, and then move in on their country. So, I am now releived it's all out in the open. I feel so much better. Ha,Ha, Ha, Ha!! (Both Molnar and I are plain idiots!)

What is Oszkar Molnar's bedside reading The Protocols of the Elders of Zion? Molnar says he is a "Hungarian nationalist. I love my homeland". The Hungarians are descended from the Huns who came Mongolia. Is Molnar off for a bit of Mongolian lamb back in the old homeland? He better get back there quick or "the Jews" may want to corner the Mongolian lamb market...

whose country's are filled with hate filled anti semitic zombies. And I am not playing the anti semitic card, it just came out of the horses mouth. :-) Hungary you lost almost of your entire Jewish community in the Holocaust, and be sure the rest will make Aliyah or move out elsewhere. This is why Zionism exists, Jewish self determination in the land of their forefathers, and if the rest of the world doesnt like it and want us to remain in their countries to be scapegoats as opposed to having Israel................................IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN ;-)

Interesting that you should use this article's Talkback as a place to ask your question about anti-Jewish sentiment. Can we first agree that this Hungarian MPs nonsense rant was not about criticising Israel's policy? That it was merely a dimwitted racial slander against Jews in general? Good. And do you sometimes notice the 2 being blurred together by people who don't believe Jews should have their own State? People who will criticise anything they can about Israel on any subject matter (cultural, defence, scientific, you name it)? Any patterns emerging?

How is it that criticism of Iran is not anti-Islam and criticism of Serbia is not anti-Christian, but criticism of Israel is anti-Judaism? Could it be that less than honest defenders of Israel use this ploy to answer otherwise unanswerable criticism of Israel's actions?

After the takeover of Hungary we just make everyone speak Hebrew or Yiddish. The British never learned many local languages during their colonial stay but introduced English. Part of the colonial model is to introduce and impose culture and language. The same as well for the French, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese. Even the Germans tried to introduce German in Togo, Jiaozhou Bay, etc. And the Arabian conquests did the same.. Byzantine Empire used Greek. The Roman Empire used Latin.. (the Ottoman empire was different since it was not really a Turkish empire but a mix of Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Greek and this was also reflected in hybrid language and culture)

Yes, there is anti-semitism in Hungary. And also, I can assure you, anti-islamism, anti-russianism, anti-germanism, anti-africanism and a few other antis. Hungary for the Hungarians. And it is the same among politically mostly insignificant groups everywhere. Our Nation for Us! Not a bit different from "Israel is a Jewish state!". Nationalism. Us versus them.
