A severe heat wave is to hit the country today, reaching its climax on the weekend. Baghdad, too, will be facing unusually warm weather.
Eilat, Haifa and Tel Aviv can expect temperatures as high as 33 degrees, while 27 degrees are expected in Jerusalem and 25 in the Galilee.
The hot conditions will continue tomorrow, as rising temperatures and low humidity affects
the entire country, lasting until the weekend, apparently climaxing on Saturday.
There is nothing unusual about this kind of weather at this time of year, coming after a particularly wet winter. North of Be'er Sheva, rainfall this year has been dozens of percent more than average. Meteorologists say local showers are still possible before summer arrives.
Baghdad is expected to see temperatures in the upper 20s today, while by Friday and Saturday, the heat will hit the 34-degree mark. There has been concern that high temperatures could obstruct coalition forces operating in Iraq.
