Hamas and Fatah are set to renew their dialogue in Cairo on Sunday with a series of talks between senior officials from both organizations.

The agenda includes national reconciliation and establishing a Palestinian unity government.

The main outstanding disagreement between the two groups is over the policy of the future unity government. Other issues that must be solved involve the security apparatuses and changes within the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Hamas, meanwhile, is once again asking Palestinian militant organizations to continue to uphold the cease-fire.

In a series of meetings in recent weeks, Hamas representatives met with senior officials from Islamic Jihad, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Hamas urged the militants to refrain from firing Qassam rockets at Israel.

They also asked the groups not to fire mortar shells at the Gaza Strip cargo crossings, in order to keep the borders open and goods entering Gaza.

After Operation Cast Lead, Hamas declared that it would observe a cease-fire with Israel only if the cargo crossings were completely open, and iron, concrete and other materials were allowed into the Strip.
