Haaretz Wikileaks exclusive / Bahrain King boasted of intelligence ties with Israel
According to latest trove of documents revealed by WikiLeaks, the Bahraini King instructed that official statements stop referring to Israel as the 'Zionist entity' or 'enemy.'
By Yossi MelmanThe Bahraini King bragged about intelligence contacts with Israel, and instructed that official statements stop referring to Israel as the "Zionist entity," according to the latest trove of documents revealed by WikiLeaks.
On February 15, 2005, U.S. ambassador to Bahrain William Monroe met with the leader of the small kingdom, Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa - the same king whose position is now threatened by popular protests.
After that meeting, Monroe wrote to Washington that "He [the king] revealed that Bahrain already has contacts with Israel at the intelligence/security level (ie with Mossad) and indicated that Bahrain will be willing to move forward in other areas."
Monroe also said the meeting was amiable and that the two sat near the fireplace on a cold and unusually wet day. Their conversation lasted about an hour and a half, and at some point moved to the subject of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The king said he was pleased with the developments in the peace process.
He also revealed to the ambassador that he had instructed his public information minister to stop referring to Israeli in official statements of the kingdom as the "enemy" or the "Zionist entity."
Monroe asked the Bahraini king whether he would agree to have trade relations with Israel. According to the telegram, the king thought it was too early and that the matter would have to wait until after a Palestinian state was established.

The whole world knows how the King of Bahrain on the shed people And the whole world knows that the biggest client for helping American and Israel We in Bahrain do not count our hope that the king had put his hand in the hands of the enemies of Islam and the Arab world HTC and the sanctity of the people and the murder of the beautiful children and the elderly And the arrest of political activists and the heads of the opposition Not to the king of killing people in cold blood Not to the king of destroyed houses of worship to a certain sect in Bahrain Leave leave Hamad Hamad Hamad leave
The difficulty is that every country in the region is probably "on the way out" except Israel. What remains will be war and chaos as the West seems weak and unwilling to assist these movements or the leaders who have the ability to change their countries. The results may be new tyrants for old ones and $200 oil? On the other hand, some of the moderate leaders may end up in Israel with their wealth as Israel has a "progressive" and substantial banking structure,
Several arab leaders expressed similar and conciliatory signals to Israel, back in those years of hope and challenges. Some arabs want to continue the armed struggle to "liberate" Palestine, others are willing to talk to us and to cooperate. That´s why we (the israelis) should continue to fight terror with one hand (iron fist), and stretch out the other hand in order to foster peace, moderation and prosperity.
countries that have common interests will have intelligence ties. everyone knows that the mossad is one of the premier spy agencies in the world.
When revolution will remove dictators they will have a place to go wiyh their money . This is the place when many thieves have safe heaven
is on his way out. And good riddance...
Too bad the more spiteful ones aren't, but they'll still upgrade to Intel's Sandy Bridge processors for a more enjoyable computing experience as soon as they can afford it and thereby bless the US & Israel with some healthy profits in the process.
And that's what the Arab Peace Initiative was devised to change. You'll note, his one reservation, and the reason he's not ready for open relations with Israel. His outlook is pretty much mirrored among most Arab states.
... he must shout it from the top of the minaret to prove his identity and serve the cause of peace ! The world is waiting for the like of Bahrain King !
I don't think so. That'd make their own problems worse.
They have the same strategy :/
what makes you think this was such a big secret? just because you are not told everything it does not mean that those in power are clueless.
Knew respect for the king.
The "emirs" are being offered rope to hang themselves. Both Bibi and the Persian Gulf Arab "emirs" who run what is described as tribes-with-flags. No one pooh poohs the US policy and get away with it. Obama knows who to deal with bastards.
This overweight peacock will go the same way as Mubarak - that's the price Islamic dictators pay for supporting the axis of evil. There's nothing the Saudis can do to defend his oppressive regime against the advent of democracy, political asylum is his only option..
Couretsy of the classified docs incontinence of the USA, and the pan-Muslim hatred for Israel. I wish I was wrong.
I always figured Israel would grab for it -- about five minutes too late. So it must still be there. Won't be by the time Israel decides to accept it, though.
Israel wont accept any arab league 'peace deal".
Just like Israel, Bahrain's Sunni monarchy sees Iran's Shi'ite theocracy as its greatest threat. Why wouldn't Israel and Bahrain cooperate behind the scenes?
As I mentioned in my other post, the largest population of Jews in the ME, who live outside Israel, live in Iran, and have more more than a couple of thousand years, non stop. The Bahraini "Emir" has major problems with the majority of its population. Please don't draw too close a comparison between the two situations. Read my post to #3.
Same big issue for the states that DO border Israel
If these stooges manage to survive, you will soon share a common border with Bahrain
you oppress palestinians and they oppress their own population.they prefer dealing with israelis(because of their us friends) than giving equal rights to 60% of their own (sub-)citizens as they don't belong to their little sunni mafia. hope the birds on the picture accomplished their mission and targetted that illegitimate king of theirs. that would also perfectly illustrate my thoughts about those corrupted gulf states....
Just wow.
No relations until Palestinian are free or have equal rights
