Greens worried by 'other greens' name
Green Party campaign planners are concerned voters will be unable to distinguish between it and the New Green Movement-Meimad, though polls show neither of the similarly-named parties is likely to receive enough votes to enter the Knesset.
The Green Party has had to contend with the defection of several influential members to the New Green Movement following disputes over the former's candidate slate.
Lately it has made a concerted effort to present itself as the flag-bearer for the environmental movement, despite efforts by parties such as Meretz to claim that title.
Last week Meretz distributed a letter by veteran green activist Prof. Avner de-Shalit encouraging voters to support it because it is virtually guaranteed to receive enough votes to pass the electoral threshold.
