Fatal road accidents claim two lives in Shoham and Holon over weekend
Traffic accidents claimed two lives over the weekend. Limor Kohlman, 32, of Shoham, was fatally injured Friday afternoon when her car was rammed by a SUV whose driver apparently lost control of her vehicle.
Hours earlier there was another weekend fatality: A foreign worker riding a bicycle on Route 44 near Holon was struck and killed by a truck whose driver did notice the cyclist riding against the traffic.
In the Kohlman death, Shai Mizrahi, the chief traffic police officer for the southern coastal plain, said that an initial probe showed the SUV driver had veered suddenly from her lane, hitting the safety fence of the adjacent lane.
She then sharply veered to the right, away from the fence, slamming into the side of Kohlman's car. He said the sharp turn made the driver lose control.
Kohlman, mother to a 4-year-old daughter, sustained very serious injuries, but was still alive when an ambulance reached the scene to take her to Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.
Her husband, who was in the car, sustained minor injury.
The driver of the SUV had three of her children with her. She suffered slight injury and her daughter, who hit her head, suffered medium to severe injury.
The foreign worker who was killed, police said, was riding his bicycle alongside two of his friends, opposite to the traffic.
A driver of a truck transporting building supplies did not notice him.
The truck killed the worker on the spot.
