Davar veterans honor Hannah Zemer
Dozens came to Beit Sokolov in Tel Aviv yesterday afternoon to pay their last respects to Hannah Zemer, the editor-in-chief of Davar from 1970 to 1990, who died Thursday night.
Many of Davar's veterans were there, including Nahum Barnea, Amir Oren, Danny Rubinstein, Avirama Golan, Tali Lipkin-Shahak and others. Lipkin-Shahak said Zemer had turned Davar into a home for the reporters who worked there, and that many of them feel orphaned to this day, even those who have since become prominent journalists.
Past and present politicians who knew Zemer also came to pay their respects - Yossi Sarid, Ophir Pines-Paz, Shevach Weiss, Yitzhak Herzog and Gad Yaakobi among others.
At the funeral in Kiryat Shaul, MK Shimon Peres, journalist Nahum Barnea, Justice Minister Tommy Lapid, former chief editor of Ma'ariv and Yedioth Ahronoth Dov Yudkovsky eulogized Zemer. Her niece spoke on behalf of the family.
