Coldplay promotes 'Freedom for Palestine' single on Facebook
U.K. music bestsellers provide link to official 'Freedom for Palestine' website, a project supported by groups such as Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, and Friends of Al Aqsa.
By Lea PennThe popular British rock band Coldplay has endorsed an upcoming musical collaboration called "Freedom for Palestine," released as a single by the War on Want and OneWorld organizations.
Coldplay provided a link to the official "Freedom for Palestine" website on the band's Facebook page, saying, "Some of our friends are involved in OneWorld's new 'Freedom for Palestine' single."
The single, due to be released on July 3, is a collaboration of several prominent musicians, including Maxi Jazz and Dave Randall (Faithless ), Jamie Catto (1 Giant Leap ), LSK, the Durban Gospel Choir and members of the London Community Gospel Choir.
The "Freedom for Palestine" site says the project is supported by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, A Just Peace for Palestine, Friends of Al Aqsa and other pro-Palestinian groups.
The clip shows pictures of the separation fence, refugee camps and the region's residents beside animated depictions of bombardments and a woman and baby thrown to the ground by a soldier at a border crossing.
"Palestine is in crisis," the site says. "Today Palestinians face daily human rights abuse and live in crushing poverty in refugee camps and under Israeli Occupation. In response to this injustice, a group of international musicians are releasing the song Freedom for Palestine by OneWorld."
Coldplay, which supports fair trade and green consumerism, is due to release the first single from its new album on Friday.

I bet you own and love the Mortal Kombat soundtrack.
Hopefully this band will mention Gilad Shalit before they break their arms patting themselves on the back. Oh wait, Shalit is a soldier and deserves his capture and continued imprisonment, right?
once the over 7000 palestinian political prisoners are released. enough already with your weak-sauce violin.
Anything to make an extra buck, pound or euro! Disgusting how Jews and Palestinians are being manipulated by the "ultra-liberal do-gooders" Simply boycott their music.
There is an interesting view on: http://wordplayblog.co.uk/2011/06/we-are-one-world/
israel i stand with you
no song for those???
Because fans such as me end up losing their respect for them for choosing a side.
Farcical how the lyrics talk about racial segregation when Palestinians call for a future Palestine to be devoid of all Jews. This should shock those supporting the Palestinian cause but it does not, as the hate for Jews overrides logic. Although not perfect, Israeli Arabs enjoy racial freedoms and equality not enjoyed by any other Arab Joe in all of the 22 Arab and Muslim countries. At the height of the suicide bombings it was also the Israel Left who pushed for the wall to be built. They now criticize the Right who have always been ready to make real peace. This song is a lie and they relegate the conflict to the disco floor. Boom, chucka boom....is the Arab way. You can hear it coming.
You are talking about the apartheid system where the 20% of Palestinians with Israeli citizenship receive inferior education and health services; are not allowed to bring husbands, wives, parents, children to live with them in Israel; are not allowed to leave Israel to work overseas because they will be denied re-entry; are not allowed to build anywhere they choose but kept to designated areas unlike Jewish Israelis; are not allowed to extend their homes as Jewish Israelis may; are not allowed to travel into Occupied Palestine as they choose.... that's apartheid!
Frank, seems like you have a gross misunderstanding of the word "apartheid". Using this word incorrectly, diminished its meaning. As for Israel, local Arab politicians do a major disservice to their constituents by spending more time traveling to hostile countries than representing their voters. If a US Congressman had traveled to Afganistan to appear with and hug Osama Bin Laden, he would no longer be in Congress. In Israel with its democracy, unfortunately these people are still in Knesset. As to building "anywhere they choose" - any and every country has laws that require building permits. Israel is no different. Lastly, Israel's 20% of population are not Palestinian but rather Arab Israelis.
Anyone who tells you to go to Morocco is a fool. But that’s not what the majority of Israelis are telling you. They’re saying that they are ready for a two-state solution where you’ll have the right to live in Nablus, Palestine just as they’ll have the right to live in Israel. The problem at the root of this conflict is that, for too long, the Palestinian/Arab leadership thought that Israel was a passing fad, a temporary nuisance to be put up with until you mustered the strength to destroy it. More than 60 years of threats and wars by your side against Israel have left Israelis nervous about just handing over land and hoping for the best. The PA’s recent alliance with fundamentalist Hamas doesn’t help. The Palestinian insistence on the “right of return” doesn’t make any Israeli believe you’re sincere when you call for peace. (If Israel had indeed been overrun by the Arab armies in 1948, would you be considering today the creation of a Jewish state and the right of return of the Jews to their homes? Be honest.) You can’t change history. Israel was an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital centuries before the Romans renamed their newly conquered territory Palestine in the hope that the Jews would forget their link to the land and centuries before Islam, for which Falastin suddenly became important, was imagined somewhere in the Arabian peninsula. The day the Palestinians finally make their peace with Israel’s historical right to exist next to a Palestinian state is the day when peace will truly come. Until then, you’re wasting your time with UN resolutions and unilateral declarations, getting musicians to pronounce themselves on Mid-East politics when they couldn’t find Israel/Palestine on a map if they tried, and academic boycotts, just as you wasted precious lives in your attempts to militarily destroy Israel or terrorize it into submission with horrendous acts of murder.
Morocco is safer than any city or (shity) in Israel. media ...............
Hey Joe: I am all for a two state solution, and whoever is telling you to move to Morocco is an idiot. I genuinely believe the average Palestinian and the average Israeli want this to be resolved, and want peace. Politicians on both side, unfortunately, have stalled things. Israel's right wing politicians and Hamas are the biggest problems, not the average member of either society. Just one thing, not all Jews are from Russia, and/or US. There are many semitic Jews in Israel, those who have lived in what today are the Israeli/Palestinian territories, and those whose parents/grandparents came from Yemen, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, etc. Just wanted to make this point because I hear many people making statements like: "look at the Jews, they are all from Europe, they all have blue eyes".
