Six people died in traffic accidents yesterday, including a 56-year-old man who was killed in the early morning after being hit by a pickup truck near Rahat. The driver was detained by the police, who suspect he fell asleep at the wheel.

In the afternoon, two motorcyclists were killed in two separate accidents in the north, and two people were killed in a collision between a truck and a car between Shoket Junction and Arad.

In the early evening, 22-year-old Elior Timsor, who was riding a scooter without a license, was killed on Route 443 near Shilat Junction. Police said they believed he simply lost control of the vehicle at great speed.

Police said the accident near Arad happened when a Subaru crashed into a truck that slowed down in front of the car to make a turn. The driver and passenger in the Subaru, both men in their 30s, were pronounced dead by the Magen David Adam ambulance service.

"We could barely reach the bodies. They weren't breathing, they didn't have a pulse or anything," a paramedic told Haaretz.

Meanwhile, a car in Rosh Pina crashed into the motorcycle of 32-year-old Yossi Swissa of Safed. An MDA team pronounced him dead at the scene.

Around the same time another motorcyclist, 21-year-old Bilal Shamas of Majdal Shams, was killed when he crashed into a car near his village. The car's driver was lightly injured and taken to Rebecca Sieff Hospital in Safed.
