Army Radio call-in show signs off after 21 years
After 21 years of continuous broadcasting, the last session of Army Radio's call-in program "Yesh Im Mi Ledaber" ("There's Someone to Talk to" ) aired yesterday.
All four of the program's presenters participated in the final show.
Yitzhak Tunik, the head of Army Radio, said the decision to terminate the program, in which callers dial in to vent their views on a wide range of issues, stemmed from the need to breathe new life into the station's line-up.
"Despite the wonderful presenters - who work as volunteers, and sometimes seem to be doing it out of a sense of mission - we decided that the program is no longer suitable, and we should make a change that would benefit everyone," Tunik said.
The program, which made history for its longevity, will be replaced with various weekly programs hosted by Yoav Kutner, Aviv Lavie and Assaf Lieberman, and a new program hosted by Sharon Teicher and Eran Zarchowitz.
