Various National Insurance Institute payments, such as income supplements and unemployment benefits, are liable to not be paid out this month, due to the ongoing strike of 3,500 NII workers.
NII branches will be closed today, as leaders meet in Jerusalem regarding plans for the coming days. NII representative Uri Dori warned workers' leaders over the weekend that disciplinary action would be taken if they didn't immediately halt disruptions in services to the public. NII workers have struck for a week because management canceled a benefit January 1, according to which employees who did not exercise their contractual right to show up 10 minutes late and leave work 10 minutes early received a bonus for working these 20 minutes.
