The Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved a number of new labor laws yesterday, sending them to the full Knesset for a vote later this week as part of the 2009-2010 budget.
One new law requires employers to negotiate with unions in the workplace. Other changes include administrative and criminal sanctions against employers not paying minimum wages based on agreements in various business sectors.
The new laws are part of the budget package arrived at by the economic roundtable forum that included representatives of labor, employers and the government.
