Fifty-five percent of the nation's employers plan to mark International Women's Day today, according to a survey conducted by Va'adim.
The company surveyed 136 private and public firms. Thirty-five percent said they would distribute gifts to female employees, and 20 percent have organized a day trip or spa. Five percent will hold a short ceremony to mark the day. Sources from Va'adim said the custom of gift giving contrasts with the gender- related wage gaps found in many companies. Men earn on average 30 percent more than women. The gaps are relatively small in the high-tech sector, and relatively large in traditional industry.
