Early elections will end this Knesset session in another two weeks, and the MKs will return to work only afterward: In late February or early March.
On July 31, the MKs started their summer vacation, and only today did they return to work. Now they will take a break for elections. All together, not including weekends and holidays, the Knesset will meet only one-third of the average number of days most people work.
The Knesset meets for only seven and a half months a year in normal years, with a three-month break in the summer. In addition, the Knesset meets only three days a week, Monday through Wednesday. though some committees do meet on the other days. MKs make NIS 33,000 a month, plus a car and many other benefits.
