Dor Energy, which is currently concluding its acquisition of fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken, has decided to freeze operations at four of the chain's six branches in Israel, including the biggest one, on King George Street in Jerusalem. Kentucky Fried Chicken came to Israel in 1993, opening its first branch at the Zahav shopping mall in Rishon Letzion (which along with the branch at the Margalit mall in Hod Hasharon will stay open).
Dor Energy president Dudi Weisman said the chain had not realized its potential in Israel and his company would look for a new strategic investor. He said the fast food chain would be integrated into commercial facilities at Delek Alon and Dor Energy gasoline stations. Dor Energy last week bought out the stake of its one-time partner in Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut for $350,000.
