Jordan boosts exports to Arab states

Jordan expanded its exports to Arab countries by 15 percent during the first ten months of 2001, the Statistics Department in Amman said in a report released yesterday. Exports to 19 Arab states were worth $583 million this year, up from $507 million during the same period last year. Iraq, Jordan's eastern neighbor, topped the list of importers of Jordanian goods this year. Jordanian exports to Iraq rose 20 percent during the first 10 months of the year, topping a value of $143.6 million, the report noted. Saudi Arabia came second with imports of Jordanian goods worth $112 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $67.3 million in imports from Jordan.
