The Histadrut labor federation says the reports that the Vita Pri Galil sale failed may be a negotiating tactic by Hetzi Hinam.
"We are examining the reports that Zaki Shalom backed out of purchasing the factor, but we consider the reports not final," said the head of the trade union's legal department, Shai Teken.
The Histadrut has not given up, said Teken, and intends to do everything possible to make sure the sale goes through, and the company does not close down.
"I believe it is an attempt by the sides to improve their positions, not Shalom giving up on buying the company," said Teken.
