El Al and the Soldiers' Welfare Association have launched a campaign to fly some 180 lone soldiers living in Israel without their families overseas once the war in Gaza ends.
The airline's chief executive Haim Romano said yesterday that El Al had responded to the association's request and alerted its hundreds of thousands of frequent fliers, asking them to donate their mileage. The company pledged to match their donations.
Within hours of the advertisement, hundreds of frequent-flyer members had donated tens of thousands of points.
