Textile company Delta is planning to lay off 100 workers in the coming days as part of its reorganization plan. The workers to be laid off serve in the Carmiel factory weaving, knitting socks, designing and sampling.
This is Delta's second round of layoffs in six months, having previously closed down its last sewing plant in Israel, also located in Carmiel, which had employed 137 workers. Delta now has 2,500 workers in Israel and 20,000 abroad, including Jordan. Delta is suffering setbacks from a global decline in clothing prices and squeezed sales. A spokesman said the move was meant to "respond to changes in the markets in which we operate."
