Clalit workers to strike tomorrow if Eilat hospital does not receive NIS 18 million
Clalit HMO workers are threatening to go on strike at all of Clalit's 14 hospitals tomorrow in response to the Finance Ministry's refusal to transfer NIS 18 million to Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat. The money is needed to finance the ongoing deficit in the hospital's regular activities. The Eilat hospital was shut down last Wednesday, and has been operating in its Shabbat and holiday mode, allowing emergency treatment only. The hospital may need to close down if the funding is not received. The Clalit union recommended that Israelis not travel to Eilat or Sinai while the Eilat hospital is closed.
