CAL ordered to rehire unionizing pilot
A CAL pilot who was fired after he tried to launch a worker's committee must be rehired, the National Labor Court ruled.
Yaakov Habib had spent more than three years working as a pilot at the air cargo company, and was one of the employees leading the initiative to form a union in 2008.
After he was fired, Habib turned to the Tel Aviv District Labor Court, which ruled several times in his favor, but ultimately against him.
Habib then appealed to the National Labor Court, which accepted his argument and ruled that CAL had fired him for trying to launch a union. The court also ruled the company had to pay him NIS 30,000 in court expenses.
