BMI seeks an Israeli partner
British Midland is looking to sign a code-sharing agreement with either Israir or Arkia to compete with El Al and British Airways on the regular, scheduled route from Tel Aviv to London. The two carriers had a monopoly on the route until now.
Code sharing means one airline operates flights for the other or provides seats for the other airline's passengers.
BMI started its regular London flights last week. It is now waiting for the decision of the Israel Civil Aviation Authority as to which of the two Israeli airlines will be named the second official carrier on the route. Both Israir and Arkia are competing for the flights.
